I presume 3rd of 4th Express teams would be afterthoughts with little focus on them. Is that a fair statement? Got notified that my son got on the team but may hold off and go to Bluefish, Jesters or Recon. Def go to other clubs and try to make their A team, and if not then the B team. Anything more than 2 teams gets lost in the shuffle. They may be very well intentioned znd trying to give a home to all those that wish to play- but truthfully, you'll be better off on a clubs A team, even if they have a smaller following. Frankly, kids who can only make 3rd or 4th team probably aren't going to playing lacrosse in college so recruiting and exposure really doesn't matter and the parent club's focus or lack thereof on the team is irrelevant. What will make all the difference is the coach of the individual team. Whether it is a C team or a smaller A team, a good coach who encourages and develops the players and makes the season fun will be all that matters. So if you think the C team coach is right for your son, put him there. If you think the A team coach is a better fit, go there. At this level, that will be far and away the most important thing.

Coaching matters. Leghardt is a class act and a superior coach. If your kid got on the "c" team put him on it. Coach White I am sure is great as well for the fourth team.
Express "C" 2020 never played in a "C" division last year. Leghadrt trained the team all Winter and we came out in the Spring as a solid team. We pnly played in "B" divisions and we beat most "B" teams in our tournaments.
Never predict that a "c" or "d" team kid will not play in College, there are Division 2 and 3 schools right?
For 2016, Express Team Leggy has offered practice to start by next week and 4 additional Fall tournaments.

You can pass other kids with hard work, lots of kids will fall back to the pack in high school and those that work the hardest (weight training and stick skills) will prevail.

The "c" team your son made probably had a great and supportive coach and your son was able to have a great year and continue to develop and then excel. If you had chosen to jump to an "A" team just because it was an "A" team, you may have ended up with a terrible coach, your son hating lacrosse and he wouldn't be where he is today. So nice job by you putting your son in position to succeed and great job by your son to take advantage of the opportunity.

That is real shame that the Vipers 2020 team disbanded. They were a very solid team that seemed like we're doing their parents right by keeping costs down and still putting a quality product out there.

Seems Bluefish has promise due to coaching and affiliation with University. Some oversights and lack of attention at 2020 tryout on Saturday 8/29. Particularily one of the coaches (actually appeared to be a college kid), not very attentive and made some errors in judgement regarding getting kids balanced playing time in scrimmages. They have a nice idea, remains to be seen whether it will be executed effectively.

The guy is a great coach.

I think the Hawks beat Legacy earlier this year, doesn't everyone say they're #2 on LI these days?

Let them come and get there beat down! Only team that would be a given to beat the five best Maryland teams is Crush and they earned that and the respect that goes with it as they play on age and have worked hard to get where they are. The remaining 4 Long Isalnd teams and the 5 Maryland would be great competitive games. It is not about region wars but good lacrosse for talented kids. And would be great if they used the Denver age cut off for any tourney to even the playing field and exclude those teams that manipulate the grade based rules and start sending the message that the other teams will not tolerate nor accept kids playing down.

Some of these tournament providers are out of their mind. Charging $1200/1300 for 3 games. Thats $800 a game they are charging to run. Costs less than $200 to run a game for field and refs. Do they really need to make $600 per game?

I have a serious question- where are the top five teams getting these players from? Are they swapping players? Coming from other areas- Westchester- queens etc..? New kids to travel? Pulling kids up from B? Thoughts?
