Who did that

Take a look at the website of the club that won the 2020 and 2022 consolation brackets

Who are the 'Redshirts'? Where are they from?

Well according to their website, they won 3 championships and had one finalist and one semi-finalist at the CNC. That would be an amazing day if it were actually true. Considering they put the top teams in one playoff and the bottom 7/8 teams in another, claiming a championship by winning the playoff between the bottom 7/8 teams seems a little bit dishonest. The finalist they claim was also in the bottom playoff after going 0-3 in pool play.

And you wonder why YJ nation is hated? 7th grade girls feeling good about some nice legitimate wins and you are talking crap geesh. When all the YJ's make the All American LI team will they boast? Such 2 faced BS

Don't sound like its coming from YJ, more like another MD program.

You may be the biggest loser to post on here, why do you think its a YJ parent posting this . Most likely a rival MD club who was at the actual tournament they are talking about. You need to look in the mirror and see why you have such resentment of people and how many times your ignorance has caused you to lash out at people for no reason.

Didn't sound like resentment at all. Just questioning the morals of posting championships that weren't actually won. You know they are posted to entice players to come to the program. Shouldn't club owners be held to some sort of standard? Everyone pays a lot of money for the girls to be on club teams. You should be getting an honest representation of what you are paying for.

That seems like misrepresentation to me, to put it kindly. Why would anyone resent that? Except the people that get called out for doing it, of course.

Exactly. Saying you won three championships when two of them were in the consolation bracket is a total misrepresentation. It obvious when the club in question claimed 2 champions for the same grade level. There was no A or B division. They just seeded the teams after pool play and put the top teams in the championship playoffs.

If a club cannot post anything about the players they have sent on to major college programs or talk about their alumni - that's all they have. Unfortunately that is the current landscape - there are several new clubs popping up every year and they have to go for the wins in order to have something to talk about. Either that or cease to exist after 3 or so years. As a parent it is up to you to decide what you want for your child.

I understand that. That's why you see the lesser clubs play in lesser tournaments. Putting championships on your website is important to them, even if they won some meaningless tournament against bad teams. But posting championships when what you really won was the consolation bracket for the teams that finished in the bottom half? That's very dishonest. While parents do need to decide what they want, they should be given the facts in order to make that decision.

Then those clubs would not have a prayer of getting that check from those well-informed parents. A well-informed consumer is the last thing a lot of these clubs want. Of course I'm probably preaching to the choir about that. I totally see where you are coming from.

You're right. In the big picture they are meaningless. Feel better?? Glad we all pay so much for our girls to be in them. Jackass

Sounds like this all means more to mom and dad then anyone else. Kids could care less what another club posts.

It should matter to mom and dad. They are the one's writing the check. If a club is being dishonest about their accomplishments, then they are paying for something that isn't true.

LOL. I wonder about that plenty. Growing up and playing lacrosse and ice hockey - I still remember doing all the stuff that the other kids do. Yes, there were the various Cooper and Bauer camps out in Buffalo and Canada. But, we still had an opportunity to be kids.

that's a shame. kids are supposed to be enjoying the summer. this lacrosse is getting ridiculous. year round. parents need to start pulling the reins a bit. and believe it or not.....I'm a lacrosse coach. we aren't running a summer program this year. nor am I letting my kids play on summer teams. I'm letting them enjoy their summer until school and fall sports begin. parents need to relax. if it's scholarships you're looking for, if your kid is good enough and does what they need to do on their own, then trust me, come lacrosse season the phone will be ringing and the scouts will be showing their interest. this summer BS lacrosse is for these hs and club coaches to make a little summer income. there's no other reason for it. let your daughter enjoy her sleep overs.

Rebels was the only Maryland team that showed up? Why even leave the island for that? The hotels, the gas, the tolls and the only real competition was another Long Island team?

Ladies, now next year u know to skip it. I'm a girls lax coach too. and a male. listen this summer lax is so the coaches can line their pockets. it means zero. tell your girls to practice with their sticks a little everyday and they'll be fine. no need for u or them to be miserable. when the lacrosse season ends let it end. let them be kids.

But I was told my 6th grader would fall behind if she didn't play and will be recruited by 9th grade if she did.

OMG.....the person who told you that is an idiot. no one is recruiting 6th and 9th graders. trust me please......let her enjoy her life. just make sure she practices a little each day with her stick. that's important. trust me when she's playing in high school if the scouts like her they'll come calling. I promise u. this lacrosse year round is becoming ridiculous. the scouts will find her. who the [lacrosse] recruits a 7th grader when she's could either plateau or just give the game up one day. and listen most importantly....u don't want to burn her out playing her year round. by the time she gets to high school she may be tired of the daily grind with lax and no break. please, do the right thing. I'm a coach and I've seen these girls come and go. the scouts will find them when it counts. my niece accepted a full scholarship to northwestern in lacrosse two years ago and growing up she played PAL. my brother didn't do any clinics or summer lax with her. she just practiced a little each day. played basketball during basketball season and that's that. this summer lax is total nonsense. it's expensive too.

Wow, your niece must be one heck of a player - getting a full athletic scholarship and all to Northwestern. For women's lacrosse. Amazing. I guess I'll talk my younger daughter out of trying out for a club team this fall. It's too late for the older one.

yeah she is a good lacrosse player. didn't really hit her stride till her jr year of high school. let your older girl finish up if she enjoys it. but your younger one don't push to hard. good luck.

And she did not get noticed until her junior year? Wow, she must be amazing. Which high school did she play at in MD? Was she at McDonogh? She had to have been.

Only 6 sophomores on the NU roster last spring, must be one of them - 2 from LI, 1 MD, 1 upstate NY, 1 GA and 1 FL.
