Eclipse did not play team 91. Eclipse played crabs and lost 15-2. Crabs still had linebacker sized kids who were definitely not 13 (despite the birth certificate requirement). Team 91 beat the Texas team 30-0.

The fact that most people on this board want the crush to lose says it all. It's almost over. Next summer it becomes an individual free for all.

The crabs roster there is the same from spring minus the ONE kid that is over age by a couple months. Come up with a new excuse.

crabs cheat - so - the kids that are on the field are suspect. It won't matter if they match up against 91. It won't be a game given the stunt they pulled at Beach Lax. Karma is a [lacrosse]... looking forward to see Jumbo Lump embarrassed on National TV.

Earlier post was wrong - halftime score was only 17-0 so not much different in the second half. 10 different goal scorers and 0 shots on goal for the other team. Odd thing to me was that the first 16 goals were assisted and the last 14 were not. Would expect the opposite, unless they just stopped keeping track.
Waiting for game 2 score to be posted, should be over by now.

One kid from beach lax is the only holdback? Would note the cutoff for this tourney is 4 months earlier that US lax. Coincidence?

Most of the teams at the World Series of Youth Lacrosse are not under any illusion that they are there to win. They are there so the their boys can have a fun experience. The teams were chosen based upon willingness to go rather than any expectation they were the best in their region or state. The C2C team isn't the best team in Texas. Team Carolina is a 2021 team playing up etc.
The reality is the Crabs and Crush would have played more competitive teams if they had gone to young Gunz as originally planned.
Blowing out a team 30-0 in a tournament that isn't as competitive as your other options shows really poor character. I am not defending the Crabs but Team 91 seems to be equally lacking in character.

True, 91 is not without their own issues, but in this comparison I see them as the lesser of two evils. "Team Carolina is a 2021 team playing up" - Crabs parents asking each other "playing up? What does this term mean, we are not familiar with it, and why are all of the other teams so small?"

Crush would hang 20+ on every 2020 team out there with this format. 10 minute stopped quarters. They hung 14 on Express in running halves. These games are twice as long with stopped clock. Crush is just a complete freak show. They move the ball better than any major college team and better than any high school in the country. Should be playing up from here on out.

The organizers wanted a national tournament instead of a competitive one and they are getting what they asked for. This final is on national tv, there are perks galore for the kids and you think any other teams wouldn't show up?!? You write well but you are completely wrong on this tournament.

Originally they wanted to have 16 teams but they failed to fill out the field. For example, the Carolina Cannons, Georgia Thunder and West Coast Stars are all better than many of the teams at the World Series and are all at young guns this weekend. The reality is that at least outside of the Northeast it wasn't hard to get an invitation but that most teams didn't want to go.

Not an insult to those teams but it is clearly more of a promotional event.

Crabs win is pretty much thrown out given their influx of players for the tournament. If Crush could change their attitude on the field and on the sidelines more teams might want to play them for the challenge but honestly they are not great opponents purely because of kids tempers and attitudes and the sideline hecklers. Good lacrosse players want the challenge to get better but nobody wants to play arrogant players who are itching for a fist fight during the game.

Also big commitment in time and money like the tournament in Fla after Xmas... not every great team is going to make it. I think the future intent is to have qualifying criteria.

If you listened to the game, the commentators had nothing but positive things to say about both teams regardless that crush was won 30-0. They complimented both teams on their sportsmanship, players didn't get out of hand the way they typically do with blowout games. The Eclipse coach took the game as a learning experience & you can't tell a team to stop scoring completely. There should be a mercy rule in place but since there isn't, there was not much for either team to do. typical 91 bunch of clowns. everyone associated with them too. May be one day they'll catch a lopsided beating on the field. I know they couldn't handle that Maybe they would if they played up 2 years! And their HC wasn't even there.

organizers of this event, and maybe some others that are similar, should look at certain youth hockey tournaments for guidance. The Brick tournament in Edmonton, which is occurring now, is a good example. Its a 10 year old birth year tourney (2005 this year) where only chartered clubs are invited (its the same every year basically). I believe its 14 now. These clubs form a "brick" team starting in March, when the season ends, and practice in the spring, while playing in some "pre-brick" tournaments. Because lacrosse is more concentrated in certain areas, talent-wise, the tournament can include, for example, 7 elite hotbed area clubs, plus 7 select teams from non-hotbed areas, like "team california" google brick youth hockey tournament - it has a good website that gives you a good feel for it, and its easy to see how it might work for youth lacrosse. There also is a similar, but bigger, tournament every February in Quebec City for Pee Wee (12 year olds).

Regardless of the drama, I'm going to tell my 2021 team to watch the World Series championship on ESPN2 tomorrow. It may not have the best 10 teams in the country, but the final will include the best team and another good team and I want my kids to see the level of play towards which they should work and aspire next year.
P.S. - And if Team Carolina really is a 2021 team playing up (presumably the Cyclones), I wish them the best of luck to have competitive games and a fun tourney.

I agree, the score shoukd have been halted a bit but do we tell at the kids that get 4.3 averages or 102.7 GPAs to not embarassed other students by doing their best? From what I've heard, there was no in your face win mentality in that game. If anything, the tournament shoukd have matched teams up better. Bringing your best in any sport, in any classroom, in any arena, shouldn't be frowned upon. If this was a local lax game or scrimmage with developmental coaches I'd agree, but let's not ask better teams, in any sport to pass the ball round and round like keep away, as that is even more humiliating. I've been on both sides with my kids and having a game of keep away is far worse.

No team there should be expected to hold back. Switching positions or passing the ball around is even more insulting to the other team in this event. Agree with the above poster also that the teams should have been chosen and matched better. Crabs did not just use holdbacks as you say although that practice lacks sportsmanship itself.. They used kids who had just completed 8th grade in an7th grade tournament before school even let out for the majority of the area. You become a member of the class when you attend a day of school with that class. The kids were not rostered on the 2020 team-they were rostered on the 2019 team. Holdbacks are bad enough but showing up with kids that are on the 2019 team (and are still playing 2019 tourneys this summer) is cheating.

So scoring a lot of goals is being a scumbag but having older kids on your roster is ok. Seriously! I'm no fan of running up the score but at the same time passing it around is demeaning to the other team as well. As far as holdbacks re-class or whatever you call it. That is cheating. Stop telling yourself its not because as of now nobody is checking. That is what is wrong with Lacrosse and when it gets fixed there are going to be some embarrassed teams. Although it looks like Crush can withstand birth certificate scrutiny so all the haters will have to come up with another reason why they win.

Whether you think the teams or this tournament is worthy or not due to the competition, it is exciting for the kids and their teams. These teams are getting treated like royalty and the kids are loving every minute of it, win or lose. I doubt 91 or Crabs gives a hoot about missing Young Guns, something they both have probably already won in the past. It is not like they have not had opportunities this Spring and Summer to play the best competition. I would think other clubs would be happy that they are absent from this tournament, as it opens up more room for other teams that you may not always get to play. Enjoy Young Guns and let the other teams at WSYL enjoy. While this tournament may not be the hardest competition, all the teams are having a great time meeting players and coaches from around the country, being interviewed on the radio show, watching, cheering and learning from other teams and it will culminate at the end of tomorrow night at the MLL game at half time when all the teams are introduced on tv and celebrated, not just the winners. This is a once in a life time opportunity for these kids and I am sure every single one of these kids will remember it fondly.

We get it. The Dads of Long Island are so fired up about a loss they they asked the tournament organizers to give the Crabs a much harder oath. Oh well.

I've been on both sides with my kids and having a game of keep away is far worse. There are ways to keep the score reasonable without playing keep away. 30-0 is ridiculous. I wonder if you went on laxpower and looked at every high school game played last year whether you could find a score that lopsided. I don't see why it's humiliating to the other team to let the kids play other positions. The boys usually find it fun and after all they are 13. To the poster that said teams who are in the World Series shouldn't have hold back; normally I'd have sympathy for that argument but the reality is that the organizers didn't put together an elite group of teams. Next year if teams have to qualify that approach might be appropriate but it also probably won't be necessary.

It sounds like a wonderful event. Hopefully some nut doesn't ruin it by running the score up 30-0.

If the team playing in Denver were to play all their games at beach lax with the team in Denver, there would have been a very different outcome. Take away all the kids who are not the correct age for the grade and you are left with a good team but not a stand out team. Love the fact that more tournaments are going to start using the Denver model and hope most legitimate ethical clubs support those tourneys and not tourneys run by those who do not care about character.
