But if she's out of the crease and therefore a field player and subject to field player stick rules, and her stick is illegal because of the pocket, why doesn't she become illegal as soon as she steps out of the crease? Good question.

Great job by the St. Anthony', Floral Park and New Hyde park coaching staffs for putting up such impressive points totals (22, 23 and 24 goals respectively) against inferior opponents.
You should be so proud!

Everybody can't get a trophy!!!! Its sports. You are 100% correct. Not everyone can get a trophy. However, every coach can win or lose with some class and some sportsmanship.

Huge congratulations to both the coaches of New Hyde Park and St. Anthony's. They should be acknowledged for never ever remotely underestimating an opponents ability to come back. Who knows, up by 15, you never know.
NHP had 3 girls who scored 18 goals of their goals. SA with the game totally out of hand, had their top players not only playing but scoring. They were up 10 to 1 at half and fortunately were able to really take it to them in the second half scoring 12 more.
There are probably a number of kids on both these teams that have not taken a shot all year never mind scored. NHP has 8 girls who have not scored at all, incredibly St Anthony's has 12.
Great job coaches.

There are ways of coaching knowing you are going to win, and pounding other teams. WHen the margin goes above 10+ a good coach will still win but win it with some preservation of dignity for the other team, we do want girls to come back next year.
I have seen blowout games by the half mark. Good coaches will pull their top scorers, even play a few of their JV squad. NHP and Floral Park did not do this, nor the Suffolk teams. PErhaps a little maturity on part of the coaches, time will tell.

PErhaps a little maturity on part of the coaches, time will tell. Power points determined playoof seeding.....that's why....and it really stinks! Power points has nothing to do with total goals scored , or allowed. This is from the section XI handbook and tells how power ranks are calculated. If a coach runs up a score it's because thats what they want to do, don't let them tell you different Power Points Division standings are determined by implementing the power rating point system. At the completion of a division schedule, the following procedure determines rank: Step 1 Assign the proper winning and losing percentage rating to each team based on its record. Examples: (1) Team X - record 5-2-1, winning raw score .71, losing raw score .29 (2) Team Y - record 8-3-1, winning raw score .73, losing raw score .27 Step 2 Determine each team's individual point total as follows: 1. For every win, add the winning percentage raw scores of the opponent. 2. For every loss, subtract the losing raw scores of the opponent. 3. Add each team's own winning percentage raw score to the total. 4. For ties only: determine the difference of the tied teams' winning raw scores and add the resulting positive or negative number to the appropriate team. Examples: (1) Team A: 6-1-1 = .86 - Team B: 2-5-1 = .29 (difference = .57). Team B adds .57 to its total points. Team A subtracts .57 from its total points (2) Team A: 9-1-2 = .90 - Team B: 5-6-1 = .45 (difference = .45) . Team B adds .45 to its total. Team A subtracts .45 from its total. Step 3 Set the final standings by ranking the teams in order using accumulated point totals. Results may be curved to prevent the publication of a negative total for any team by adding a like positive number (100 points) to all scores. Ties in Division Standings The procedure for breaking ties in division standings (teams with exact power points): 1. Head-to-head record breaks ties in point standings in favor of the winner. 2. Compare record versus the highest finishing common opponent. If the record is the same, continue to compare the performance of each team against the highest finishing common opponent in descending order until the tie is broken. 3. If the tie has not been broken using common opponents, it will be broken by the team that beat the highest finishing uncommon opponent. 4. If the tie is still not broken, the highest ranked team as determined by division coaches at the pre-schedule seeding meeting will be the team given the higher final division standing.

Nassau (Section VIII) News and Games to Watch
Class A points to Farmingdale gaining the top playoff seed. The Lady Dalers have cracked the top ten nationally in some polls and figure to be the team to beat in Section VIII. However, the regular season may still hold some surprises as Wednesday will see the Dalers take on the Massapequa Chiefs to close the regular season.
Garden City, despite a four-loss season, are still the Class B favorites for Section VIII. As if scripted on the heels of the Boys-side Woodstick Classic, the Trojans will take on Manhasset on Wednesday in their Conference II Championship. If Manhasset (7-1) can pull the upset, they will claim the Conference II title.
In Class C (Conference IV), Tuesday night will be the second straight season where North Shore and Cold Spring Harbor come into their final league game with identical 8-0 records. The winner of the Vikings/Seahawks game (faceoff at 7:00pm) will claim the conference championship and top seed for the Class C Sectional Tournament. BOTC fully expects that Seaford will grab the third seeded spot for the Section VIII playoffs.

Where can I find the seedings and playoff brackets for Nassua? any help would be appreciated. newsday doesnt combine divisions come playoff time The playoff seeding for Nassau will be based on the final standings. The structure of the Section VIII playoffs is slightly different from the Section XI playoffs. In Class A (Conference 1), the top eight teams are seeded with 1 vs. 8, 2 vs. 7, 3 vs. 6, and 4 vs. 5. In Class B (Conference 2/3), there are four top seeds that will receive a first round bye with the next eight seeds (5 through 12) playing in the opening round. In Class C (Conference 4), six teams will make the post season. The top two seeds will have an opening round bye with the next four seeds (3 through 6) playing in the opening round. We anticipate the first round in Nassau starting on or about Wednesday, May 16th. Hope that this helps answer your questions.

the long island challenge was started several years ago by the mount sinai coaches and mt. sinai youth director before the days of coach bert (who is great); this is the first time it was not played at Mt. sinai. Over the years it has included many different teams and I'm sure as the tradition continues so will participation from various teams.

The point is that it is not fair to the other teams. Bryn Mawr and Maryvale deserve the reputation of GC and SA. Given that BM scored 11 straight goals on SA and handled GC easily, they earned it. On the field results matter more than the spin of SA and GC. The article Sunday was the PR hype in full mode.
I respect what your saying, especially about S.A. . But as far as G.C. goes, they are a public school, unlike McDonogh who , as stated earlier , is more like a college team, and S.A. who basically pay kids to play. Though G.C. is having a down year this year you cant take away that they have won 6 straight N.Y. titles. Its not like we're talking about other states like Ohio or Florida, Both N.Y. and MD. have been hot-beds for lax since John Hopkins organized the sport, cut G.C. a break, there probably going to win the state again, unless Manhasset can beat them
Probably, but the chances of an upset have increased I would'nt say GC is a shoe-in. I wonder if the coach has the guts to bench the poison that has rotted that team. They can win without that and play selfless, better lacrosse.

What was the problem with the head coach of Longwood and his team. They insisted on using profanity directed at the head coach of Lindenhurst; because in their minds, "he dissed our coach." Under no circumstance shouldva player get involved in a coach's matter. This is not the first incident of unsportsmanlike behavior or the Longwood team. The coach allows red carded girls to attend games. He is indeed a disgrace to the game of lacrosse.
