How do you lose to west bab . they have 2 girls. we played wb twice this year, won by 1, and lost by 2. wb totaled 27 goals in those two games. 2 girls scored 26 of those 27. How do you let this happen.
KW please explain your strategy. You have to step down.

How do you put in your "second goalie" with zero warning and zero warmup into the game? You leave her for in for on goal - which was a 1 on 1 goal. Then call timeout and put the first goali back in?

Clearly a coach who has no clue how to handle goalies or coaching overall.

It appears judging by the unbiased selection of Schoolgirls and the apparent favoritism those watching this team are accusing the coach of that this saga is just beginning.
I hope this results in players being treated fairly in the future and the club affiliation favoritism among coaches with an obvious conflict of interest goes away.

US Lacrosse has addressed this issue with unbiased selectors at schoolgirls tryouts. With that said the Team 1 goalie is the kid who sat on the bench most of the year for Huntington.

Just doesn't add up.

No offense but the reasoning of your post just does not add up. The starting goalie was ineligible to try out this year so if she had who knows what the outcome would have been. Also without rosters for school girls being posted its very difficult to see if there was any bias in the team selections. The coach of team 1 is after all an Elevate coach In the past every anti YJ person would have been on here with their conspiracy theories of why no rosters etc. if it was a YJ coach.

Funny thing is the team 1 schools girls goalie should not have even been at the tryouts in the first place( obviously the kid is well deserving of going to the tryout) . The wording in order to be nominated by your high school coach is a high level varsity starter, interesting .

Why are you on BOTC? If everyone is such a coward, why don't you address everyone transparently? You're doing the same thing. People are upset and frustrated at the situation and you are engaging them in a contentious discussion. And you've criticized the girls' playing. Can those girls all really be that terrible? When they play on their club teams, they are recognized universally as some of the best players in the country. They are all going to really great schools. Perhaps the coach could be a bit more reflective about what works with the team and what doesn't. It is certain that sitting great players out and never giving them positive feedback, and telling teammates to injure one another is not working. Everyone knows what the goal is here- and it is really clear that it is more important for this coach to keep some particular girls from succeeding than having a winning season. She has lost sight of what true coaching is. I never imagined this game that we all love and have shared with our daughters and their teammates would become so awful and damaging. What a shame. Obviously you are close to KW and care about her, but it's not necessary to say how pathetic the high school players are. When your daughter is on varsity, she can prove herself with her skills. The difference will be that she will be celebrated and protected, but many other girls, who show up for every game, will not. [/quote]

Part of the problem is the parents in Huntington over inflated assessment of their kids abilities. What does "recognized universally as some of the best players in the country " mean. Recognized by who ? No offense but the travel team is universally recognized as middle of the road ,certainly not top tier.I get that many of them are going to some great schools but a lot goes into that other than lacrosse skill ie maybe a parent went to the school, maybe the kid would most likely get in because they are very good academically but were given no money just an early commit based on academics remaining high( a no brainer for the college coach because it costs them nothing). There are plenty of schools who have parents that believe they underperform because of the coaches you just don't have them on here whining about it.

You're right. It's funny- the majority of the team plays for the same club and there is no such drama there because the girls are treated well, never bullied, and taught new things about the game every week. These are very coachable girls but they need a coach who cares about the team, not her own travel club interests and the advancement of her own daughter.

So youre saying that because KW never started the unc goalie she almost ruined her chance to play for schoolgirls team 1? As you said shes clearly deserving maybe one of the best goalies on the island. Who saved her?

1. If you saw how heavily most of these girls were recruited, by the top programs in the country, you'd understand "recognized universally." In no case, was the interest because of a parent or only academics.

2. People are on BOTC "whining" about the team's under performance because it is a direct result of the coaching. If parents from other programs feel the same way but don't want to say anything, that's their business.

3. These whining parents are taking the case elsewhere and trying as hard as they can to make change. This forum is just for discourse.

1)Were they more heavily recruited than girls from other travel clubs or even equally recruited as TG top team, YJ top team, MD top team, Skywalker top team, Capital top team, Steps top team. I understand Universally accepted and to say they are Universally accepted as some of the best players in the country is just pompous. Question for you , when some of those players moved clubs what level team did they make.
2) Amazing when a coach has so many of the universally accepted best players in the country and they are successful everyone says anyone could coach that group but when the team does poorly its always the coaches fault
3) sounds about right

You either do not have a daughter who plays lacrosse or are just spewing hate, because clearly you have NO idea about these girls. The 7th grade girls who are on JV belong there, they are as good as the players on that team if not better!!! The 7th grader who plays attack is by far the best player on the team. They are not dirty, they play hard, every game. Whether it is for their LISGL or JV. Get a clue and stop whining because your daughter didn't make the team or doesn't get enough playing time.

Wow... oversell your daughter much????

Not privy to the recruiting in other clubs, but if there is a recruiting class of about 8 girls for one college and the girls are widely sought after, I'd say that's fairly accurate. No one moved to other clubs. In this case it is the coach's fault. Sounds about right.

Here's the real funny thing, the school w8th the most D1 committed girls all play for the same club except . Best team in N.Y., 2nd or 3rd b3st team in the country, top 3 recruit. But no love. That team has and will continue to produce some oc the best players in the country.

Credit due. That's where having nearly all the school players, play for the same travel club pays off. School teams kicks butt, travel teams not so much. The rest of the clubs and schools on LI operate on a much different model, clubs are hand picking the very top players from various school districts and those club teams are strong, for a couple top clubs anyway. Flip side is the school teams are not quite as strong. Fully in agreement that your school team rocks, club teams are not top end and know too many people done with the politics. Unfortunate thing is there is no where to go to get away from the politics.

sorry for my original post, hard to type on a train without my glasses. Not much drama or politics at Liberty, most peo0le are happy. One player with a loud mother didn't like the coach, other than that you don't hear anything. . Coach makes players better, she doesn't just see the talent , she cultivates it. Her club doesn't w8n every game, but all her girls are ready to play at a high level in college. Sometimes it's not all about wins and losses.

A product of the youth program as much as anything else (GC and WI success can also be attributed to youth program), too many PAL coaches are obsessed with winning and let 1-2 kids run the game to the detriment of all the others and then they wonder why they don't develop more quality players in HS. BTW you won't see any 7-8 graders from those programs playing on any HS teams, rarely see 9th graders, I wonder why...

Your saying that the talent comes from a strong youth program, which Huntington has. Then you are also saying Huntington's PAL teams are
not good? Your post leaves me confused.

There was not a single elevate selector at schoolgirls. Team coaches have zero input as to selections. They are simply handed rosters.

Can someone please explain to an outsider, in 100 words or less, what the story is here… reading these posts, it looks like some parents feel there is a coach with a biased towards her private/for profit club players.
Fact based questions: Is the Coach affiliated, i.e. gets paid for coaching or has a relative that plays for a for profit lax club. If so, which one?
Are there players on the team from that club?
Are there players on the team from other "competing" clubs?
Is there a policy at the school district forbidding coaches from engaging in for profit outside employment that would create the appearance of impropriety in relation to their coaching responsibilities at the school.
Give the full story please, no innuendo.

Thank you for being so succinct in your questioning;

The varsity coach gets paid to coach for Yellow Jackets.

There are players on the varsity team who play for Yellow Jackets.

The daughter of the coach also plays for Yellow Jackets.

This year a number of 7th graders from Yellow Jackets, including the coach's daughter, were pulled up to J.V.

There are players on the varsity team who play for Elevate.

It is a fact that some players from Elevate do not receive the same attention/playing time as some of those from the coach's travel club.

The varsity coach has been friends with the Yellow Jackets director since college, when they played together, and I think roomed together.

I don't know if there is a policy in the district about this conflict of interest and impropriety but parents deserve to have one implemented as soon as possible.

I'm pretty sure the Northshore HS coach was at the tryout, i beleive she coaches for Elevate. I dont know if she waas an evaluator though.

How many Yellow Jackets are on the Varsity team?
How many Elevate players are on the Varsity team?
Are there any other girls from different travel teams on the Varsity team?
As for the 7th and 8th graders who were pulled up, can you provide a breakdown of their travel team affiliations? Was it only yellow jackets that were pulled up?

The Huntington issues have nothing to do with club teams! This poster has it completely wrong. It's of no bearing what travel teams any of these girls play on. When they are playing for Huntington High School, that's is their team!!! No one gives a care about yj or elevate or liberty it's a school team and the issues are within the school team. Stop trying to create more problems then we already have.

Exactly. It is an issue with a coach who bullies girls and does not know what she's doing when it's game time. She embarrasses girls by singling them out, tries to pin them against each other, messes with their minds and confidence, tells them to bruise each other at practice, etc.

Hop is not affiliated with Elevate.

I never said I'm affiliated with any club. I am not.

The girls don't care but the coach sure does.

Are there any other girls from different travel teams on the Varsity team?
As for the 7th and 8th graders who were pulled up, can you provide a breakdown of their travel team affiliations? Was it only yellow jackets that were pulled up?

Plenty of information above.

Exactly. It is an issue with a coach who bullies girls and does not know what she's doing when it's game time. She embarrasses girls by singling them out, tries to pin them against each other, messes with their minds and confidence, tells them to bruise each other at practice, etc.

except for the part about not knowing the game, this sounds just like the ESM thread!!!

She let two players score 14 goals without attempting to faceguard or even mark up on either. She watched her starting goalie make zero saves in the second half and barely gave the one going to UNC a chance. She didn't start a junior who was All-County last year and had 6 goals in the previous game - the player who took her spot did absolutely nothing in the game. Then when she finally put the junior in, she had her play midfield even though she is an attacker and had one of their best midfielders sit on attack.

^all of that in only one game makes me think that she has no clue what she's doing.
