You are correct - we were calling around for results of that key match-up last night and did not have the score until early this morning. Thanks for reporting the results.

Bay Shore game??

Ward Melville took this match of undefeated Suffolk Division I titans on four goals from Emily Rogers-Healion. Ward Melville scored four late goals in the first half to open a six goal lead at the break, 7-1. Ward Melville was nine-for-nine on faceoffs in the first stanza.

Bay Shore closed the gap to two goals at 7-5 with approximately fifteen minutes remaining but the teams effectively traded goals down the stretch. Bay Shore outscores Ward Melville 6-3 in the second half.

This matchup still shines as one of the potential great post season games. Nice to see the emergence of Bay Shore this season to bring a fresh name into the Section XI mix.

Bay Shore has always had a great program and have been quite successful in the past. They have some great players, the Melville game was a good one. Melville is always mentioned, but on the Boy's side not the Girl's. Nice to see that program coming together as well. Both teams are young and should be around for a few years to come. Good chance this was a preview of title game, but Northport is too good not to be heard from again. Should be a great finish to the season.

One time in college one of our teammates scored his 3rd goal of the game against a really bad team to make the final score 18-3. Our team (along with the coaches) gave him a ton of crap for scoring an unnecessary goal. When are some of these coaches going to wake up? Thoughts?

Teach your kids the right thing - build character, build leaders.

Northshore vs. Seaford game today was quite interesting today. NS's leading scorer never left the game even though they were up by 10 goals. Also some great sportsmanship in the stands when a fight broke out between parents.

Six minutes into the game and McDonogh is all business with a 3-0 lead on Garden City who calls for a timeout.

At the eighteen minute mark, Garden City closed the gap to 6-5 however McDonogh has just scored to open the lead back to 7-5.

From there, McDonogh continued to pour it on - halftime score is 11-5. Taylor Cummings has five goals for McDonogh while sophomore Megan Whittle has four.

McDonogh has now netted eight straight to open a 15-5 lead at the 33 minute mark - the clock now continues to run with the ten goal gap having been opened.

O.K. I know this is completely off topic, but anybody that ever thought that $1,700.00 was too much to spend on a travel club has to admire the brilliant idea of F.L.G. to post a 2 page add in this months Inside Lacrosse.

McD is the real deal. They are incredible. Fun team team to watch. GC was completely overmatched. It is a big drop off from last year. This was their first real big test, they should get better from this. The SA vs BM was a surprise. SA seemed unprepared and completely rattled just like last year's big game against McD. SA has the most talent, not sure what happened. Hauppauge looked good vs SP. They have come a long way. WG proved that JC should not have been included. They have a losing record 5 - 6. MD Public schools prohibited from playing on Sunday so they could not be part of this.

This is a great idea. Tomorrow should be another great day.

fl$ is able to do this because they are For the Love of the Green. They are the most expensive program in the USA so they can afford to spend their "not for profit dollars" on two page ads in IL.

What we learned this weekend was that McDonogh is truly the top High School team from the New [lacrosse]/Maryland hotbeds. We also learned that Bryn Mawr was likely stronger than was thought prior to the tournament.

Regarding Garden City, every report including our on BOTC shows that McDonogh was unconscious on Saturday with every break and faceoff going their way. By all accounts, Hauppauge played well but was simply outgunned against a stronger opponent.

Hard to argue with you. Sometimes it is good for teams to see the other side of the scoreboard and perspective. GC and McDonogh are just not in the same league. That was clear. SA supposedly had the most talent in the country with all these recruits. BM was not remotely expected to be able to play with them. SA jumped out to a 3 - 1 lead just like last year against McDonogh. Then BM applied pressure and that was it. A repeat of last year. They scored 11 straight goals which almost seems impossible. SA coaches and team had no idea what to do. BM showed everyone what a good team is all about. Before Saturday, wanted to see a McDonogh vs SA rematch but thankfully that did not occur. Hauppauge looked great the first game then had to play McDonogh. McDonogh took them out of their game from the first whistle.
Not sure if GC has ever lost more than 4 games in a year including playoffs. They have two now and have a long way to go and play SA in a week.
Hopefully, they do this again next year, it was a great event. McDonogh and BM were both very good and have to give credit to them.

The girls should be proud. (St. Anthony's aside) It is very hard to compete with private schools that can pull in talent from any town in a reasonable driving radius. To expect a public school to compete year in and year out with a school like McDonough is a tall order. The top talent will be similar and is evident by the success of the Long Island girls playing in college, but it is hard to have that kind of talent throughout your roster in a public school. In Hauppaugue and GC's case a "B" school. Programs like GC and Farmingdale are hard to find. I would like to see GC and Hauppauge play Marylands' best public schools and see how one sided the scores are.

Way to go Long Island. While the MD teams RECRUIT the best talent from multiple towns, 2 TOWN teams are in MD representing Long Island. The fact that a small school like Hauppauge can be down in MD representing Long Island is Fantastic. Way to go Eagles. Great Job. All Hauppauge girls .......come home with pride!!!

The amount of money spent and concentration on lacrosse in Garden City rivals most private schools. GC is loaded with private lax players from Yellow Jackets and other clubs.

Yes, but the point is they can still only draw players from inside the school districts boundries.

I have a question to the more-seasoned lacrosse parents here. Did any of your experience apathy within your daughter's team? My daughter's team is mostly concerned with everything high school EXCEPT lacrosse. And it shows with their lack of W's. My daughter comes home frustrated daily as her teammates have no repsect for anyone outside of their little clique; coaches included. Quitting is not an answer as my daughter is already committed(verbally) and does not want her future coach to view her in an unfavorable manner. What does a parent do in this situation?

Hauppauge should be proud. They have become a really good team. Their game against McDonogh as tough as it was will help them in the playoffs. St Anthony's was incredibly hyped and was a complete disappointment in their effort and preparation. They could not defend BM at all and BM is by no stretch a McDonogh. It was worse than the year before. Garden City played a team in McDonogh that was completely ready to play. The next two weeks, we will see what type of team GC really is. Maybe there should have been other teams involved but the challenge of this tournament is that the teams need to be picked way in advance for logistic reasons.
Exciting to watch. Games like this clearly reveal the strengths and weaknesses of teams, coaches, etc. It will never be perfect, but for the first time out this was pretty good.

What are you talking about? G.C. is a public school. What do you mean by "private lax players".

Quitting is not an answer as my daughter is already committed(verbally) and does not want her future coach to view her in an unfavorable manner. What does a parent do in this situation?
Tell your daughter to hold on, play , and have as much fun as she can. When she gets to her college team it will get so much better.we all know losing is no fun, but tell her to not get lost in the wins and losses. Enjoy the game, do your best, have fun.

This is so funny. Glad my kid doesn't go to Sachem East. This spineless jellyfish should be ashamed of hiding behind the anonymous wall. All my girls played HS and college lacrosse at both Div. I and III schools. Not all were superstars in HS and I certainly didn't blame the world or make up lame excuses for them. Hey angry mom or dad, what are you going to do when your kid doesn't get into her first choice college or her dream job when (if) she graduates? Boo Hoo blame the system, blame Obama and Congress. You are a coward and the other parents should run you out of town. It's because of people like you that I tell my kids not to go into public education. White trash. Nice. I lost a lot of respect for the parents of Sachem for trashing their own athletes, coaches, and parents who work and volunteer in the community. I wish the team well and hope they aren't distracted by the posts of some stay at home mom or computer nerd who has too much time on their hands. I may sit in the Sachem section tomorrow vs 3V. I'll know in 5 minutes who the unhappy, pathetic parents are.

You sound just as angry and nasty as the sachem parents.
