Taken off the Girls Varsity Thread and placed hereYou have to be kidding me? Go back to The Yellow Jacket thread and look at past posts. Plenty of people have stated specific examples of Carol Rose's antics, not to mention the blatant threat to this very site. If you just joined us you need to catch up, and if your just a flunky then your too brainwashed to accept the truth. Nobody needs glasses of any sort to see how transparent the Jackets are. Pay and your in. Pay a lot and your on Blue "A". No one ever said only Garden City girls are good, I'm sure your daughter is O.K. Take the G.C. girls from any Y.J. team and there average at best. Not the 2015 blue (real blue) team. Not the 2014 blue (real blue) team either Your kidding. 2015blue is the biggest case. Dad coaches, kid plays and CRDieznt care about any other kid at this age. As long as blue wins she is happy. Oh nd it's not cause my kid didn't make it. My kid isn't as good as the girls on blue but does that mean she isn't worth CRs time ans effort? What makes you think that coach rose does not care about any other teams except for the blue. Have you looked at the 2013 verbal list ? My daughter was a gold player her first year and worked her butt off because she wanted to be on the blue team . She puts in a lot of time and effort and it has paid off. As for the 2015 come on you know who is really coaching that team. That team has been undefeated for over 100 games and that is all pm not the dad I only speak from my own personal experience. Yours is obviously different.

With so many great colleges with real campus lifes, offering D1 lax, this is surprising to see so many girls going to. They look better this year, at least playing the weak teams on the schedule. Even if they do build a top 10 or 20 team, I just don't see the draw, it's a cold, barren university.

Only draw I can come to is the cheap in state tuition, that these girls would even consider going there. Even if they were to someday become a lax powerhouse like MD or NU, I still feel like the entire college campus experience is completely missing from this place. To each their own.

Sometimes kids just don't want to go that far from home. Maybe they already have a sibling there, or friends. I know a kid who just chose SB over Binghamton because he liked a particular program they offered better. While choosing SB is not what you (or I) would choose, it does make sense to those girls and their families and I don't think we have to look down on their choices anymore than we question the girls going to any of the other schools on the list.

SB head coach is speaking at YJ fundraisers beccause he's got nothing better to do?

There are girls other than on the blue or gold team that are on this list. And, this is the 2013 list, meaning they are juniors. Not everyone wants to play division 1 and if they want to play d2 or d3 there is no reason for them to commit so early.

SB head coach is speaking at YJ fundraisers beccause he's got nothing better to do? You are absolutely, positively ... WRONG. First, such "reimbursements" are major violations of NCAA recruiting guidelines and, if uncovered, would result in the complete - and we do mean complete - elimination of a lacrosse program. Just take a look at the sanctions imposed in football for "innocent" booster sponsorships when uncovered. These payments are an athletic director's worst nightmare. What you are missing is that lacrosse is a money loser for most universities. There is no economic rationale for a college to offer "kickbacks" for channeling players.

I think the parent was saying their out-of-pocket expenses would be much less at SB since it's a state school. I can't fault that strategy. I think you need to keep in mind that the point of college is education, not lacrosse. My own kid (2015) has started making noises about choosing a college based on its lax program and we have had some come-to-Jesus talks about that thinking.

The low cost was noted as maybe the draw to SB. And your exactly right, the point of college is education, with lax perhaps helping the athletes get into a better school than their academics would allow. I think many of the people are considering SB for the lax team promised to be. I don't think for all the girl's this is about education, it's about lacrosse. Just look at the number of players transfering to follow the coach, is that about education? Small tuition and a part scholarship, and a promise of a powerhouse team to come, for many is likely a nice deal. Not knocking anyone's choice to go there, just suprised by the number of girl's making the choice to go there.

I also wondered about the large number of girls who transferred from the Adelphi team to go to SB. Transferring can be a big deal in the case of lost credits, available majors, and the type of schools are much different as well (small private vs. large public). To each his own, but my daughter is reviewing schools based on the major she wants, distance from home, school size, and (for us) cost is a factor as well. A good lacrosse team at the d1,2 or 3 level is a bonus for her but not the driving factor of where she wants to go. SB is a very good school though, so hopefully they are making the right decisions for themselves and their families.

My daughter isn't a Jacket, and was not at the luncheon that you referred to, She want to become a doctor as I stated, but to send her to Northwestern ( seeing as you are a top gun parent )her tuition will be$41,983.00 for 4 years at $58,682.00 per year room and books adds up to $234,728.00. If she is lucky she will get , in combined scholarships ( academic and sports ) 50% off, leaving her in debt $117,364.00. Financial aid only covers so much, still leaving your kid in a hole from any where between $60,000.00 to $100,000.00 in debt. If you have the money to send your kid to a school for that much money, so she can have a "college atmosphere" god bless you. In comparison Stony Brook will cost $6,994.00 in tuition, room and books included, 20,336.00 per year. but really who will pay to stay on campus. I got all the numbers off of https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org/find-colleges good site to get the real facts about how much each college costs

Honestly even if you could afford to send your daughter there, 99% of college bound lax players from LI won't be wanted by the coach. A few of the very best and most highly recruited girls (several yj's) have made it to play there, but for the rest of everyone else, it's not a realistic option even if you could afford it. And you assume all YJ parents are on board with this SB thing. You are wrong on so many levels. SB looks like a great situation for you and your daughter, and I'm sure for others, so good for you, hope it all works out.

“They all deserve congrats! And yes, 9 may be YJ, but 7 are from Suffolk schools and 2 are from GC - both areas whose talented lax players frequently play for YJ rather than another club.”
Good observation, parents of younger players below 9th grade see this. The new phenomena developing is that parents of average to mediocre athletes see this "model" of club lax girls getting recognition and going to good colleges. So these parents push there 6 and 7th grader into club lacrosse and try and kiss the right "butts" . So now you have lots of mediocre athletes cramming these clubs, in particular 6th and 7th grades.

Looking at all the clubs rosters, your argument make zero sense. All the clubs have the same amount of teams for 2017 and 2018 as they do for older and younger girls. That age is no more crammed in than any other. the thought that there are no talented girls in 5th, 6th and 7th grade is just silly talk. The good girls in 9th grade and above come from somewhere. You may have a point where some clubs seem to turn no kids away and you end up with some less talented kids on the third or forth team. But some may be very good atheletes who are just starting and just need a year or two of stick skills to get caught up, so the idea of these lower teams as only money makers is only half correct, they are also a farm system to develope players, I see they value from both a finacial and player development standpoint as far as the clubs are concerned.

Great Job girls congrats!! Class of 2013 as of April 14th

Manor )St. Francis Blue: Lily Schmidt (Garden City) Hopkins Blue: Alexandra Tilley (Ward Melville) UConn Gold: Christina Turner (Harborfields) Ohio State Blue: Dorrien Van Dyke (Northport) Stonybrook Green: Jessica Volpe (Hauppauge) Stonybrook 2014:Kasey Behr (St Anthonys) UVA 2014:Ali Pavinelli (Northport) Florida Yj's looks like the new pipeline to stonybrook. I always figured stonybrook would be a college girls would consider after it not working out somewhere else. With so many great colleges with real campus lifes, offering D1 lax, this is surprising to see so many girls going to. They look better this year, at least playing the weak teams on the schedule. Even if they do build a top 10 or 20 team, I just don't see the draw, it's a cold, barren university. Can you say National championship? Over the past 3 or 4 years yellow jacket team beat maryland team most of the times! Maryland , virginia ,John Hopkins, loyola etc. .they all recruite in state (Maryland). Why not recruite from long island, some of the best talent in the country is on long Island. Coach Joe knows this and he knows talent when he see it! He doesn't need help from CR. Look at Adelphia and what he did with that team. If you don't know, He won 3 National Championship!!!!! By the way they have a beautiful stadium

My daughter wants to be a doctor, should I send her to N.U. so she can collect a 180,000.00 debt in her first 4 years for atmosphere? If you allow that , your a bad parent. Oh yeah, I forgot youe a Yellow Jacket, your kid is going to get that imaginary "full ride" So your saying a stonybrook education is better and more valuable than an education from all the other colleges offering D1 lax? What did they spike the koolaide with at the luncheon? I got all the numbers off of https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org/find-colleges good site to get the real facts about how much each college costs Don't know what your hang up on northwestern is. Thanks......I think?

you're dillusional if you don't think that there is a certain quid pro quo attached to where some of the more elite travel sports programs steer there players, the directors are paid "consultants" or are somehow compensated or recieve some other reciprocal treatment. Believe what you want to believe< there wasn't a LI kid on UF 5 years ago and now there are probably 10 (all YJ's)

Even if that is true, I wouldn't be too proud of UF. They are involved in the most classless act of sportsmanship this lacrosse season what happened at UF? Earlier this season, they defeated a team by a score of 29-0 and did not call off the dogs during the match. Such is life in Gator-Nation.

The obnoxious score was only half the story, it was the post game player and coaches comments that people were going crazy over. This was a disgrace on the national level and the school's reputation took a huge hit.

Yea and you can watch all the YJ kids get scooped up by the college coaches no matter what team there on just like all the other previous years!! Sit by your computer and spread your stupid opinion all you want because at least the YJ can list where these kids are going to school. Show us all the other clubs for class of 2013 they have so few they are embarrassed to post and can't compete. YJ began class of 2014 commits already. I hope they can play lax and do well in college classrooms also, depending on what they want to do with their lives.

And I suspect you missed the class at Stony Brook that explained the difference between "your" and "you're". Everybody put your (not you're) hands up for the class of 82!!

Now you have to be kidding. Descent????? How do you come on here with your stupidity and correct the you're when you provide additional nonsense with the word descent.....which means act or fact of moving from higher to lower position. You have put yourself in that lower position while correcting a person but continuing to show your own ignorance. Look up the research ranking of SBU..... and the success of many of the teams this year...nah how about continue writing so we can laugh at your stupidity....and you graduated from where??? .........silence.....thats what I thought. You are an IDIOT!!!
