The Huntington 7th graders are some of the best in their age group and deserve to be brought up to JV.ive seen them play and they have a very hi Lax IQ. Huntington lucky to have them. Opinions are great, everyone can have them but it doesn't make it true!! Really???? Well if you watched the first game you would know that the 7th graders were responsible for 7 of the 13 goals scored. They belong there. But I guess we will never know the score if they weren't there and the older girls were. Yes I do, it would have been tied, like it was until the coach started putting the girls in. The bottom line is that these girls make the team better. Isn't that the goal? There are 9th grade girls on varsity, isn't that the same thing? This is a team sport and if a few players help a team, how is that not a win for everyone involved? Calm down Mom, I am sure Kelly Amonte and Jen Levy were there.

Girls lacrosse is anything but a team sport. Get the ball to (fill in the blank) and then everyone else can stop running! No, not on a successful team. That works against weak opponents but not a team with adequate defense. Then it takes a team effort.

Girls lacrosse is anything but a team sport. Get the ball to (fill in the blank) and then everyone else can stop running! Unfortunately you are correct for many teams this is true. But not the case for the really good teams and you can pin the goal to goal culture of a team directly on the coach. Somehow a parent walks off the sideline beaming after a player spent the entire game dodging, resetting, shooting and netting 8 goals. As a parent you should be embarrassed. There are teams and players that play a very unselfish game, including many/most of the players on offense. It is great to watch when you see it in motion. There is nothing more painful and pathetic to watch than an individual effort, win or lose.

Think all the other girls are having a good time? You are losing and they don't touch the ball because they have been told they are not worthy to go to the cage. Next step is your surrounding squad will be from the POm squad.

How about also playing both sides of the field it's called defense. Some players are too concerned about their stats to play defense.

My daughters PAL team was coached like this for years. Daddy coach who puts his daughter at attack and spends the whole game screaming get the ball to XYZ. The other girls do all the legwork scooping up the ground bulls running the entire field while she stands right next to the net. Finally after about three years of this BS the girls themselves stopped passing her the bowl and started passing to each other and going to the cage it was beautiful because the rest of us parents didn't prompt them to do it they were smart enough to realize what was going on and did it on their own

Score and assist. it is a team game when all players do their part it works.

Kudos to the team who won, they subbed in some players who don't usually play all that much. That's the only reason the game was as close as it was. Glad the losing team was able to pad some stats!!! Good luck the rest of the way out. Next team won't be nice. Same as BBP was! Hope next team they play buries them!!!

Our teams have been hijacked by travel parents. I would be surprised if we can field a team in a few years if this continues. Do you think they ever look within and see what they have done to our teams or are they just happy their kid is the one everything goes through? Seems like the classic "my kid" syndrome

Sorry there is nothing more painful to watch when a team is up by 6 goals with 20 minutes left, playing keep away either get up by more goals and get other players in or continue to attack the goal this 20 minute keep away is pathetic. I would rather watch great indivudual talent going to the goal then watch keep away.

Maybe the goal scoring percentage comes down and game stays close but we keep playing lacrosse instead of keep away. We just don't need to see the same kid get 15 points while everyone else watches.

Agree with that, but I have to say I've seen our HS coach tell our point hound to stop scoring and she does not, she "forgets." And because she is his pet, she stays in while the does the V8 headslap. She (and her parents) are all about the numbers.

Im pretty sure the other team had a kid that put up 7 goals as well. The other girls who had 4 and 5 goals just happen to be two of the best that Suffolk County has to offer. Both will excel in college as well. Watch and enjoy.

Part of being a top player is helping those around you get better. 7 goals 4 assists and 5 goals 1 assist are impressive numbers. How do their teammates feel? Did they learn anything positive from playing in that game? What message is the coach sending to the rest of the girls on the team? Win at all cost? What are they going to do when these two girls graduate? Glad my kid is not part of that program!

Both will excel in college as well. Watch and enjoy. Winning team had a bunch of players who scored and had assists. They also allowed for multiple subs including goalie so as not to run up score. Justify it all you want but there is no reason two girls should account for 100% of the points. The coach should be ashamed. Develop some other players. From a parents point of view, I'd be scratching my head. Coaches are teachers and should treat sports like that. HS sports shouldn't be win at all cost. Think about the other 15-20 girls in that uniform. Their confidence has got to be at an all time high after that performance.

I am aware of a middies job genius. My point is a midi should be able to go to the cage if she has a legitimate shot. Not always feed daddy's attack girl who misses 80% of the time

Top Gun and YJ parents will never admit there is a problem with girls quitting because of their own daughters selfish play. Travel parents want their kids up in 7th grade an early commitment in 9th and to be mentioned in newsday daily. They will tell you everyone else can't keep up.

I'm saying one girl from Happauge and from West Bab who scored 4 & 5 goals are two of the best players in Suffolk they are both unstoppable and when a game is on the line the ball would be in their stick going to the cage or the coach should have their heads examined. Give West Bab some time they will be right there when the season ends just watch.
