Politics ....... The parent must have used his connections to get his daughter there. The girls are not dumb if the team is any good she will be exposed. Again this is the world we live in , Don't make your kid earn it by working hard and going to the wall and going to sprint on their own. Hey make the call for your kid..... Think about it 3rd team at one program to first at another REALLY... Please. The YJ 3rd team would destroy the top Elevate team any day of the week. Any kid from that team would make the top Elevate team without even breaking a sweat.

Sorry, the 2021 Elevate team is pretty good, played the top YJ team tough a couple of times and beat the second team. Third team might have a tough time. I like the kool aid too but you do need to deal with the reality of the facts from time to time and not just spout off at the mouth.

Sound familiar?

Everyone happy with the YJ Tournament choices this season? Looks like many teams will have 6-7 tournaments in some ages. That's a good thing. Yes, what would the season be without the mitchell field extravaganza and the PAL tourney in babylon! Cute but looking at 2021, Elevate has 4 tourneys and Top Guns 5 with one of them being the LI3 classic which is worse than both of the aforementioned. I'll take the YJ 7 but keep trying to take a shot at the champ... How do you know how many tournaments Elevate has when nothing is posted on their website? Elevate tourneys posted under each team on their site now. Only 4 tourneys at the 2021 level. In addition to YJ being the best program and one of the best teams in the 2021 age group, they are also giving us a great deal for our money compared to the other LI programs.

As long as the girls are having fun and growing as players and young ladies who cares what color there jersey is. It's all part of growing and learning the game. Take the time to enjoy this it will go by way to fast.

So no politics needed for a skilled player to get spotted at a tryout. She's probably going to be one of the best players on the team.

Do yellow jacket coaches have a choice of where they want their teams to train in winter or does the club tell them where to go and when? Do all teams train or do only the motivated coaches do it. New to this, thanks

New to this, thanks Only the Blue teams train together over the winter in the younger grades. The 2021 practices on Saturdays and they are going to do some agility and strength training together on Thursday Nights. But no other girls from that age are allowed to participate in either activity. So if you are not on Blue chances are you will not be coached until Spring and you will only get 10 practices. But there are some optional clinics you can pay for. Go to the YJ site and look up clinics.

Not entirely true either.. my daughter plays on a (Gold) 2nd team, and her coach has arranged for training at an indoor facility. It’s not a state of the art facility, (not free either), but it’s a good chance for the girls to get together and work on stick work, partner passing & wall ball. Most motivated coaches are probably getting together to practice in some way. The unfortunate thing is, if your stuck on a team with an unmotivated coach you can’t do much about it. But as was said above there is (or was) some club sponsored clinics open to all that were available. I can’t comment on quality of those as I haven’t attended any.

I assume you are probably a team who is a little older as the 2nd teams of 2021,2022 and 2023 don't have that as their coaches are college students. The 2021 gold team is on their 3rd different head coach, so I don't have high expectations (though last year when we had an established coach, things were not very good).

That YJ parent better hope their daughter doesn't grow up to look like Carol Rose "
Just plain mean...proud of yourself? Hope the children in your life don't grow up to think like you...
Mean? Not at all. Truthful and to the point. Carol Rose is a gym teacher and she should look like one, and be fit and able to participate in all the activities she has her students do. She should be a role model for health, nutrition, and taking care of ones body.
Perhaps you find her a role model for your daughter, but she would not be for my daughter.
While your statement may be true, it served absolutely no purpose so it was mean. Any attempt to portray it otherwise is dishonest.
Perhaps if Carol Rose was nicer and didn't think her [****] doesn't smell, then I might not have posted by truthful comments and opinions.
Carol Rose thinks who she is and seems to intimidate most, if not all of you. Her arrogance and intimidation did not work with me....so the next time she wants to shove her weight around she should try it on you, as you seem to have your head under her dress. To me, she is simply piece of [****] who is using the school system and tenure to cover her running a profitable business and there is nothing the district or you can do about it.
Do you think if she had a job without tenure she would still be employed?
Like I said, the woman needs a serious exercise program smile

But as was said above there is (or was) some club sponsored clinics open to all that were available. I can’t comment on quality of those as I haven’t attended any. Much more accurate but not entirely true either. Because they were mentioned I'll use the 2021 blue as an example. The Saturday practices are run by one or two of the teams dads and the Thursday training was arranged by another of the parents. There are coaches that will run their own off season training but many have other responsibilities and commitments that prevent it. In those situations it falls to the parents to communicate with each other and find a trainer or someone with coaching experience that can assist. Even if it's just wall ball, passing drills or an indoor league together it builds basic skills and creates a team atmosphere. For the original poster, you'll see a lot of negative talk and chops at just about everything that goes on on any given team. Just remember, instead of complaining about a situation keep a positive attitude and find solutions. We're all entitled to a dozen practices and a handful of tournaments. Everything else is a team (kids, parents, coaches) effort. Good luck

Rosters are out for this weekend's Nike Elite 120 for 2017s and 2018s. How did Carol pick which girls to go? A lot from YJs, TLC, M&D Black, Mayland United, STEPS, Heros, etc. Seems like a great event from what i hear.

Stick work, passing and wallball can be done at the local elementary school. Usually have great walls. Closer to home and cheaper. High Schools may be farther but have a track too. That’s true and I agree 100%. But this is a chance to be around the other girls on the team and still work on lax. It’s also a chance for the parents to re-connect and begin planning out the summer It is great the majority of this team is so dedicated and working together in the off season. For the YJ haters, this done on their own, coach is not involved and YJ does not see a penny from it. They want to get better and are doing something about it, how about your team?

Rosters are out for this weekend's Nike Elite 120 for 2017s and 2018s. How did Carol pick which girls to go? A lot from YJs, TLC, M&D Black, Mayland United, STEPS, Heros, etc. Seems like a great event from what i hear. Definitely where you want to be next weekend if you’re in one of those graduating classes. We were there last year and received a few college contacts. Its run by STEPS, so they will be well represented. Also sponsored by Nike, so there’s swag to be had. The girls were able to try out the Crux 500 launch pocket stick and the new goggles last year before they were released ...she thought that was cool

Interesting.

That is simply not true. Pure recommendation from club coach. You can separately send in an application, but essentially all slots 120 slots are filled directly from club coach recommendations. Read the write ups on Inside Lacrosse from prior years. Had become a top event and had 92 coaches from all of the top programs last year.

^^ well then I guess my experience was different then yours ( my daughter was there last year) I emailed the elite 120 director ( contact info on the website) I received an application and sent it in, along with that a recommendation was needed from the club director.. CR is not her club director, she's not a YJ. CR may do things differently.

Sorry I was a bit vague, my point was that because there are more girls from one club and not another is an indication of the "which club is better" argument
