What is the feeling on how TD will do at StM? Seems like a big step to go from Urbana to StM in the IAAM A Conference. I know he has been an assistant for M&D 26. Of the new coaches he probably has the biggest challenge ahead after last year.

I know hes already reaching out to local clubs. St Marys does pretty good job of doing clinics, other things to get kids looking over there. End of day, they just need to retain the top kids already enrolled at St Marys middle school level and they will do solid. Not many kids going to drive from Baltimore area south to Annapolis. Grab top Eastern shore kids too will help.

He’s a real coach and has worked all over the country developing lacrosse players. Given time he will develop that program

What happened to M&D this weekend?

It's about recruiting now so substitutions happen and it may not be the best for the game. Records and trophies don't really matter now.

Their teams were at MidAtlantic and played all their games. Results are on TourneyMachine.

Nope. The 2 best we’re playing in the mid. The mcd girl is hurt. They lack discipline on offense and defense is just average. Looks to be a pattern happening at all mnd teams. Collect money and play all evenly and results are less than impressive.

What happened to Heros last weekend? What happened to Skywalkers and Capital this weekend? As someone else stated, wins and losses are much less important now in these showcases, plus players missing due to injury and school playoffs for other sports.

I will say the number of scouts and coaches this weekend was amazing. If you are a parent on the sideline chirping and acting like a fool, your daughter will be scratched off the list. No coach wants to deal with [Censored] parents. Do better!

i wish i knew which M&D team plays even playtime. I've never seen that with their teams

These are showcase recruiting events. This isn't about winning or who has the best team. It's about players being seen by coaches.

Most of the coaches are seeing a lot of these girls for the first time. They may have seen some before but not with the same level of interest. There is a reason they had the higher brackets early for the 25s at SPSG and later for the 26s at the fairgrounds. Some colleges haven't finalized their 25 recruiting (D3 is just getting started for that year). The D1 schools who are done (or close) recruiting 25s are starting to make their lists of 26s they want and where they may fall. They know most of the girls aren't in peak form because of the summer break and fall sports.

The coaches will look at them again this coming weekend and at their winter camps and prospect days. The real recruiting evaluations will start in June after the girls have been practicing and playing all spring.

But they still won't care about who wins or loses. They will be annoyed by stall ball because they don't care who wins and that is less time to see what the girls can do. They will 100% be observing parent behavior on the sidelines and reading the body language and enthusiam (or lack of) of the girls on the field and sidelines. If you don't think your behavior (while wearing club gear and yelling at coaches, players, and refs) matters, it does. If your daughter yells at teammates, refs or anyone else, hangs her head, hogs the ball, gives less than 100%, etc., the coaches will have that noted.

As a 25 parent that just went through this process, this is the best advice. Who wins the games are not important, its how your child plays/contributes to her team, body language and parent sideline antics. I would also be strategic on what you sign your daughter up for. You don't need to trek your daughter to every event, showcase or camp. If your team is playing in all the big tournaments (L4C, MA etc..) and all star games (BIC, JO, UA, Nike) college coaches will have a good idea of they player your daughter is and how she fits in their program. If your daughter is not playing in these tournaments or all star games, you will have a little more work to do. Make sure you pick showcases where the schools you are interested in are attending and make sure you attend their camps.

Absolutely true. Kids were told from mnd and sw they would not be recruited by them because of their parent behavior.

MIAA coaches stop recruiting kids because of how parents act at youth games. Heard this first hand and if you think college coaches want to get a 100k investment wrong try again

If a D1 coach is paying attention to parents and not players then they aren’t worth much. My daughter plays college lacrosse and the coach was interested in her skills and grades not how Woke and sycophantic the parents were.

They absolutely pay attention to the parents. In college they are part of the program as well. There are several kids that I know of whose parents have gotten them crossed off of lists. There are too many talented kids out there to want to put up with those parents. If they act like [Censored] in front of college coaches, how do you think they act when they're not around?

Coaches aren't coming to watch your daughter only one time - after they get to know the player, they ARE watching the parents down the road and it DOES play a factor in recruiting. It's amazing how parents are so quick to insult on here just because they don't "believe" or "agree" with a post.

This is absolutely 100% true and college coaches talk to their friends. I know a 24 and 25 that were not recruited because of parent behavior. They were told they wouldn’t be getting calls and the club directors know too. Another 24 was just dropped from a southern school because mom constantly complaining about the school and coaches. I am pretty certain you will be one of those parents coaches will avoid.

well I know two girls also who's parents negatively affected their recruiting. And Im not a fabricator. Both girls ended up somewhere but not where they envisioned when they started the recruiting process. I will say - you'd have to be a complete fool on the sidelines but trust me it happens. Maybe Don't be a donk when the coach of a top 5 team's daughter plays on your team. That top five coach knows everyone 🤔🤔🤔

know what else coaches notice, the parents that seemingly are always the ones telling tales of others' bad deeds

I do know current top 20 D1 coach and a former top 20 D1 coach very well and have given us some great insight into their thought process in recruiting.

1. They want the best players that fit their program - as athletes, students, teammates, and desire.

2. They will avoid players who will bring drama/toxicity/negativity to the program.
- this includes the player and her family. The top programs have plenty of choices of great players. If it is a choice between player A is a great kid with good parents and player B who is a prima donna and has parents screaming non stop, they will quickly mark player B off the list.

3. They do check social media of a girl they are interested in. They want to make sure they are getting a full picture.

4. In Maryland, they will make an effort to see a HS game if possible. They will talk to a HS coach since most are experienced enough to give a good appraisal of the player on the field and sidelines. They will also notice who the fool parent is on the sidelines.

All coaches have a different level of tolerance for what they will tolerate from the player and her family. Probably some hope that distance will keep parents at more than arms length.

The easiest solution to make sure your daughter has the best chance at every school is to make sure she is the kind of teammate a coach wants, works hard and stats positive. As a parent, don't be a donk that everyone knows. Don't yell about coaching, refs, or deride other players on any team. UT really isn't that hard to be an enthusiastic, proud parent without crossing the line into being an obnoxious ***hole.

New topic-what does the spring look like for HS teams both private and public? McD repeat at IAAM? Any new comers or loses of players that may impact this years team performance?
