If the kid plays - they will forfeit games and have a huge mess on their hands. They are smarter than that - and have a great team - would expect he would just sit out of this event. Having him play would be a huge mistake - sure parents on team know that too and would not want to risk.

Plus he attends practices. So he is full time with the team. Not a ringer brought in just for the tournament.
If this was last year, I may believe this. But this team, and player knew they would be going to the WSYL. Don't think for 1 minute that didn't affect their decision to drive 130 miles to play with a team. That is the ONLY reason he is on that team. Again, if this was last year (before anyone knew about the ESPN coverage, I may believe it, not now)

The idea is to make it to the tournament? From what I have read in other threads the Crabs made tournament but the group they took were missing a few ineligible players. Could be similar here. Otherwise I would suspect the mileage thing will be changed or worked out, or they have it figured out already.

Heard may use a Long Island address. Maybe rules should be from school attended if different address used. Philly to Syosset is 135 miles. 135 is driving distance. Philly to Syosset is 105/106 miles on a straight line and there are some parts of town that might sneak in under 100 miles. I bet you they figured that out already.

It is amazing how stupid you sound calling out a 7th grader on a anonymous board and actually going on google maps to try to determine the distance from PA to NY.

Do people really care who wins the 2016 WSYL? We are talking about 7th graders playing a sport most of them love. As a parent enjoy the ride (win or lose)and soak up all the fantastic moments watching your son play the best sport on two feet. Embrace the brotherhood that lacrosse prompts and lead by example for these young kids. Since most of these 7th graders will not play high school lacrosse and almost none of them will play college lacrosse, this is the best its gonna get for most of these kids. Instead of worrying about what one team from Long Island will or will not do, please sit back and watch your son run around with his friends playing a sport he loves.

most of these kids wont play high school lax? Really? the people who are on this thread and are concerned about the wsyl have kids on the top teams on the island and in the region. while it is true that some playing 7th grade travel will drop the sport to think that most will seems a little crazy. I agree that the focus on this tournament is absurd and traveling a hundred miles to join a team in a different state is insane. but this is what elite levels of any sport do.

No, it's not what children do. Only loser parents who drag their kids 100 miles do. The kid will grow up dropping out of college and pumping gas for my kids Aston Martin.

Funny post about your Aston Martin - Successful business men usually don't call out 7th graders on an anonymous board at 11:30pm. You are probably the fat guy who probably never played competitive sports and is trolling porn sites in between to coming to this site.

I doubt these post are coming from those who had kids cut. I would bet post are coming from parents or coaches from teams that will have to play Igloo and just want to make sure no rules are broke. Igloo does not need this kid to win. It would have been nice to see Igoo play and win with an all Long Island team. However, Long Island teams will be at a disadvantage with the June 1 cut off date. Other states have kids this age regularly playing on rosters and I'm sure the four teams from Long Island don't becuase of the 12/1 school cut off so maybe adding players from far away is a way to even the playing field. Either way I'm sure rules will be enforced for this event. If the kid plays - they will forfeit games and have a huge mess on their hands. They are smarter than that - and have a great team - would expect he would just sit out of this event. Having him play would be a huge mistake - sure parents on team know that too and would not want to risk. Who is this? Why are you creating turmoil? Your kid got cut???

You should be allowed to play for any club anywhere if you want to--its not town ball. Its pay to play and if you are good enough and want to play and train with what you believe to be the best why shouldn't you be able to do that no matter what the travel inconvenience is imposed on yourself??? No horse in the race. just my opinion.

Forget about the issue of "relassing" for a second, which should not have hit 2021 yet.
Obviously, it stinks for NY teams how almost all strong single-year teams from outside NY are loaded with kids that started kindergarten late, i.e., older than 9/1.
I'd say it matters more for 2021's now than any other year. Many boys start puberty around 12-13.
If you compare a 9/1 or 12/1 compliant 2021 team that was formed back in, say, 4th grade based on skill and athleticism to a team formed in 2015 based on who is hitting puberty early and loaded with pre-9/1 kids, you end up with huge size differences on the field. This is really more of an observation than a complaint, but it is hard to blame a LI 2021 team from trying to add some size (and I have no idea if this describes Igloo) when competing nationally.

Rules are rules and the igloo has to play without this kid and if they play with him - everyone will know. They will still likely win - so highly doubtful They would risk forfeit over rules violation.

Well if a 6th grader who plays on an 8th grade team wants to play on a 5th grade team that plays up in a 6th or even 7th grade bracket would that be considered cheating ? I am sure someone would find a way to challenge that scenerio . You people only complain about rules when it's an inconvenience or a threat to your sons team winning streak. Coming on here and planting a seed that will continue all the way through in hopes of banishing this kids is worthless , find better things to do when your home instead of trolling on here , like being a good parent wipe off your lacrosse salivating face and spend some quality time with your family , which includes going cold turkey from lacrosee for the eve .

The boy you are trying to degrade is 12 years old (fact) clearly Not the age of an 8th grader which I'm sure you are aware of although it's easier to just say stuff. He is in 6th grade would of been very young in Kindergarten and parents elected to start him following year. Yes he plays up and always has which is why when he plays near his actual age people spew nonsense because of the talent level. I will be transparent that I once shared your view point on this but did something different and got the facts and got this first hand . This should help enlighten you. The Attacks on kids from adults with no facts is disappointing. Enjoy your day

Enjoy your day but when the 5th grade coach never takes the player off the field when his team plays up, its not a true testament of the team winning playing up. The player is the same age. It leaves you wide open for criticism especially when people use it to bring the other team down. How can you lose to a team a grade younger is what the other team hears. Its fair game for criticism. Its not an attack on the player its an observation about coaching to win. It has its upside and downside. Enjoy your day.

Soo... he should really be in 7th. When he plays on an 8th grade team, that's playing up. And to be commended. I still don't agree with a 7th grade age kid playing on a 5th, or 6th grade team. That would be an unfair advantage. This is clearly not the only case of this happening. Plenty of people playing the system! Age based is what needs to happen in youth lacrosse.

No, people need to stop gaming the system especially at these young ages. it's all about winning and the kids know it and feel it. it's a shame. these are the developmental years. recruiting starts way too early. where is the fun in all of this? for the kids, that is.
