GC is a very young team. At any give time you will be playing against a 9th grader and bunch of 10th graders making up half of the kids on the field.

Are you kidding me. They lost 1 game by 1 point, to the number 1 team in Suffolk (I agree Pequa and Syo 1&2 on LI). Why do you hate so much? They should be a Suffolk top 2 some people may say put SE as 2 behind Northport, which is semantics and would make them 3rd in Suffolk and 5 on LI.

The second round of Suffolk is where it will all start. 5 games in Suffolk Playoffs (??) to determine a champion will be what the season is made of. Hearing lots of young kids making an impact in the league, should be a great time these next 2 years. For now does anyone see any surprises in the last week.

Never count out those WI lions!

The real fun starts Saturday morning.

amazing how Lynbrook gets ZERO respect. If GC were the returning Long Island Champs and were undefeated they'd be ranked at the top. We will see though, just such a bias its not funny.

Lynbrook would get smoked by P'qua and Syosset and several other Nassau country school. Lynbrook is having a great season and I'm happy for them but they only have 1 quality 1 against Manhasset and Manhasset is having a down year.

And because they're better teams in the big picture. One game won't sway national rankings.

Lyn scrimmaged Syo and it was a one goal difference - while scrimmages don't mean everything they are an indication that Lynbrook belongs in the conversation - and no they would not get smoked by either team.

The Nike/Lacrosse Magazine Rankings are from Monday 5/5. That's as current as it gets. Lynbrook is in the same boat as Connetquot. They are both having solid seasons, but they are just playing the schedule they were given. It's not their fault; however, there are probably 9 or 10 really bad teams on each of those schedules. That is absolutely a factor. If they want national consideration they will need to set up some games with some traditional powerhouse programs. Beating up on teams like Brentwood and Pat-Med are not going to further the cause at all.

Yes, and Ward Melville is #5 and Smithtown East is #6... take that for what it is.

That makes sense. Can't beat chumps like that and expect respect. You dudes gotta go find some studs to play otherwise you're like D1 Georgia Southern football going undefeated in the Sun Belt Conference and wondering why no one is considering you for national college football playoffs. You gotta be good enough to take on a challenge.

Lynbrook would get smoked by P'qua and Syosset and several other Nassau country school. Lynbrook is having a great season and I'm happy for them but they only have 1 quality 1 against Manhasset and Manhasset is having a down year.

And St. Anthony's beat Syosset in a scrimmage. What's it all mean? Nothing but we are lucky to see the game played at such a high level.

Did St Anthonys really beat Syosset or was it a scrimmage and Syosset played it like it was just that...... A scrimmage.

no man up - very liberal substitution - they wet man up and man down for 15 minutes in between 3rd and 4th.

it was all good - real game would be very close

Game was competitive, would not say WM in control until the very end. Both teams will need to tighten it up if they want to win a championship. Chammy just a bit more careless with the ball at times. WM Goalie and #10 both looked very good. Do not think either team played to their potential but is was a hard fought competitive game. WM can win the County but will need to bring more fire power if they want to win the Long Island Championship and compete for The State Title.

From my vantage, WM was pretty much in control all game. Agree it was competitive, but never had the feeling that Chammy was going to make any run...

Agree on firepower but Chammy has a pretty good D. I think there only loss was pequa by a couple early in the season. So, again, how do ranking change?

WM losses to both Northport and quot by a goal. The quot game was double OT and in Northport, two last minute goals won the day for that squad.

If I were ranking, would move WM up a few spots (with Northport above WM, quot one below WM) and Chammy falls further down a few...rest stays as is.

How can you move Wm above Quot, a team that is undefeated (I don't care the schedule)and beat them.

St Anthony's last 3 out of 4 games will tell where they belong. Worried off The Jerico last 4 games are brutal. Should be fun to watch it all play out.

Friars got through those 4 games 4-0. (Chaminade, Don Bosco, Darien and New Canaan). Now the championship game vs the Flyers on Wednesday.

Yes great job for both schools. Shame that there is only a few good schools in the catholic league. But it is great both Friars and Flyers can branch out to other schools.

WM 17-HHHE 1

WM looked good although the coach should have gotten in some of the seniors for their last home game. Instead he lets a few freshman run around for the last 8 minutes.

We all know he will play the starters throughout most of the game, but how does he not get a few seniors in at the end? Doesn't all the time these boys spent over two or three years matter???

It was never even a game last night, the goal that HHHE is credited was scored by WM goalie...

I am not saying that kids should get equal time and I am not saying the kids that played all game aren't deserving. They are clearly deserving of their play time. Just seems to me in a 17-1 game that was a blow out at the end of the first q, coach could have shown a little loyalty and respect to the team and let a few seniors play.

Say what you want about the catholics and their position to not move up freshman and sophs, but the system clearly is fair. On all of LI there are only a very small handful of Freshman that can actually contribute.

To stick some of them in with 8 minutes left in a blow out to run around while junior and senior kids that have been loyal to the program stand and watch is just sad.

So NOW are we done with Connetquot's greatness? Winning one game in the playoffs against the lowest seed is meaningless. They had a nice season. They beat up on a lot of bad teams and played a good game against WM. But most coaches and fans knew they werent going to make it far in the playoffs. Take note that they lost to Smithtown West, not East. Not a bad team by any stretch, but not a team discussed in any rankings outside of Smithtown. Maybe now they'll realize that great players will only take you so far when your coach is not qualified.

We had a similar situation in our high school on senior day. All the parents were there and many kids didn't see the field. Even the players were distraught that were playing watching their buddies on the sidelines. I sat with one mom who couldn't hold back the tears she felt for her son.

That is very sad, and insensitive. Not what you expect from anumber educator. Just terrible

Don't think the kids who don't get the chance don't work their [lacrosse] off to get better!! No clue what you are talking about...what an ignorant statement by someone who probably has coaches on speed dial!! Kids are not given the chance to prove themselves. I am sure you have been there all season and watched. Multiple games that were blowouts with minimal substitution. Even the pros know to sub out the starters so they don't get injured in a meaningless game. What a jackass you are! Again, another parent all about their kid...so tired of it. Don't worry I am sure you have been on the phone with the coaches already about getting your kid plenty of PT over the summer. Believe me my kid probably works 10 times harder than your kid and never gets the chance because I am not up the coaches [lacrosse]!! Play the seniors!!!

To many coaches are always looking at the future. In my town the coaches never think the team is good enough so they are constantly preparing for the future by playing younger players over the upper classmen that are better and stronger than them and can help the team much more right now. The days of being loyal to the players are long over.

I agree do want to work with younger kids. Can't agree with you on better and stronger. In a district like WM bench goes deep. Coaches have them all year long because kids play with them in the summer, so there is plenty of time to develop. No excuses...WM like many districts have too much politicking and closed door deals to get kids playing time. So the bottom line is be loyal to players that have been with you for years in a 17-1 game!

Really? coaches play the best players. Parents are not at practice everyday to watch. The programs that year in year out go deep into playoffs know what they are doing. Stop crying on a public forum about playing time. Sports are not always fair...just like life.
