As soon as #14 and his little are gone the better will be. He’s a selfish player who and his father thinks is the best player in the state!

Haus isn’t the problem, it’s the two @ChillLaxin screaming on their sidelines. Get good coordinators and we’ll be fine.

My daughter has played against her for years. She needs to practice with her stick if she wants to play offense. Mids and attackers handle the ball. I’ve seen her struggle.

Pleasantville and Somers go down to the island and come back with wins.
Jay closes the door early on Greeley. Somers/John Jay for the league next week will be a must see.
Really intriguing game tonight with Yorktown/Mamo. This should be a good one.

this event absolutely never had any merit

Agreed. I assume Wink got complaints about almost all the girls being on 91 or YJ A and decided to make two more teams. Cha - ching.

The girls that were chosen for LILJ Games (initially at least) were all girls that participated in the events that are listed on the LILJ webpage as being events that you could attend to be considered for the LILJ Games. If you stayed home for these money grabs, just keep staying home for the ones they lead to.

That is totally 100 percent absolutely false. My daughter and many of her teammates that got selected never went to an LILJ event…..ever. That’s just their way of taking more money from you. If you like the event then go have fun. But one thing you can’t do is act like this event is a collection of the best talent on Long Island.

That’s a good bounce back win. Bronxville youth showed today. They came back and tied it but couldn’t close the deal.

Things noticed this week. There were more surprises than normal. Most games are closer than expected. The violations continue with offsides and shot clocks. Teams are still relying on hero ball. Team play and unity enhances performance. Teams that can balance organized play schemes with inventive lacrosse IQ will standout and win. The top five teams are the closest they have ever been. The bottom three teams are starting to show glimmers of hope and are improving.

Predators v FCA
Not sure what to make from this game being that I watched it closely. First it was a rise and shine special. Did this play into the game? I am first surprised by the 6-3 score. FCA seemed like they came to play with more of their injured players back on the field. The game was not exciting nor pretty. It was one with many ground balls missed and passes dropped. From the start, FCA was pushing the ball to the offense and increasing the numbers of shots on goals. Some on target, many in the goalie’s stick, and many off target. The team moved the ball a little better than previous games with involvement from other players. Preds struggled on offense with many loss of possessions due to defense and simple stick skills like ground balls, bad passes, and dropped balls. If Preds was on point with these skills, it would be a completely different game. FCA won most of the ground ball battles on their defensive end. The midfield play was average for both teams with balls being thrown away for each team. Turnovers was the name of this game. FCA got little better with the shot clock with (I think) one violation. However, where they made up in another area, they replaced it with players being offsides. I think it was +3.. This has to be addressed in order to improve in transition and game speed. Defensively Preds was playing to the best of their ability, using their size to make up for speed, ball movement, and off ball cutters. This might have been Preds best defensive game. Including this game and the last, the goal differential was an average of 4 goals against (FCA and TC). FCA’s defense continues to struggle. I understand they have some defenseman out that would make a difference. With that being said, the defense seemed lost at times and inconsistent. There doesn’t seem to be a sense of leadership on the defensive end, unlike the offense where it is clear who runs it. FCA limited the on field frustration. Hopefully this win was a stepping to stone to better and more decisive wins. Preds came to play. LITTLE by LITTLE they get better each week. Will they win a game this year? I am not sure, however they are improving at bigger steps than other bottom teams in previous years. Next week, FCA takes on Madlax and Preds take on Legends. Is FCA prepared to take on the speed and precision of Madlax? Will Preds make the legends game closer than expected? Who will know. Legends and Preds play at U.S. Lacrosse field which makes for a unique and exciting experience for players, coaches, and families.

TC v Hawks -
Didn’t catch this game. What happened? The score sparks curiosity. 12-7 TC? My questions are primarily with Hawks. Have most teams figured them out? They run a very specific offense. Very mythical and calculated. To their credit they have been known to be very technical. Has this been a thorn this year? Their goal production seems to be ok however their goals against are higher than what you would expect for a team of this caliber (Please no Goalie comments). TC’s goal production is 3rd lowest in the league but yet they seem to win games with low goals against. I really thought this game would be closer. Would love some game review.

Madlax v Legends
Game of the weekend! Legends over Madlax in overtime. This game was a battle of wills. It wasn’t a perfect game by any means. It was close from beginning to end. Madlax started and established the tempo of the game with some quick goals, catching the legends on their heels. Legends was quick to respond with their own goals. Legends has continuously had a strong and aggressive defense. The leadership is apparent with players and coaches communicating with each other and holding themselves accountable. Legends did struggle in the clearing game with multiple turnovers happening in the middle of the field allowing Madlax to stay in the game. Midfield play at this level is a game changer for any team. Madlax’s defense played hard and was tough, their slides were good and it was apparent that they knew where to be. Offensively, Legends was moving the ball well however, some dropped ball or poor passes caused turnovers in favor of the other team. On offense, Madlax took good shots, however it became predictable as to where the majority of the shots where coming from and from who. While their passing was consistent around the crease so was the 15 yard shot down the alley. Luckily Madlax has good shooters. Both Madlax and Legends have some simple errors to resolve like precise passing, ground balls, and transitions. Shot clock management was ok with Madlax getting called more times than expected. What was apparent was that box coaching caused for some key turnovers for Madlax. This caused confusion among players. Coaching was good on both sides of the field, however each team had different approaches to handling the pressure. In the end I think Legends should have won by more goals. The game should have ended in regular time. The gap between these two teams had gotten really small. Next week, Madlax will play FCA. If Madlax controls the midfield and limits basic mistakes they will dominate the game. Legends and Preds may turn into a closer game then expected if Legends slips on fundamental stick skills. If Legends controls the pace and tempo of the game and plays all 4 quarters equally it will be a win.

Team 91 v Next Level
Watched the first quarter and the game started out as planned. Next level dominated through out. Other than the Legends game, Team 91 seems to have trouble scoring goals. The question is are they getting better every week?

Predictions
Hawks v. Team 91 - Hawks +8
Legends v. Preds - Legends +5
Madlax v. FCA - Madlax +5
True Chesapeake v. Next Level +2

AAA

Hawks v. HoCo
Another upset with HOCO winning 10-9. I would call it an upset. Especially when the Botton team gets a win like that.

Shore Kaos v. Carroll Manor
Shore Kaos pulled it. They have the ability to score goals but are equally tied with Carroll Manor.

Prostart v. Team MD
Well Team Maryland pulled of the spoiler with a large win. There ability to score goals helped them in the end. Hopefully in the future they can limit them to help along the way.

True NOVA - Bethesda Blue -
Nova won 11- 9 . They continue to score many goals which has kept them at the top. The gap between nova and everyone else is getting bigger but he week. If NOVA does this consistently they win it all.

Predictions
Team Maryland v. Bethesda Blue - Team Maryland +1
Hawks v. NOVA - NOVA +9
Carroll Manor v. HOCO - Carroll Manor +3 - Upset of the week with HOCO winning.
Prostart v. Shore Kaos - Shore Kaos +1

Coaching staffs need to do better. You run this kids through a grinder all week at practice and come Game Day they sit during a blowout. Padding a kids stats who's already committed to a D1 school is ridiculous. What happens if that kid tears an ACL during a blowout or gets a concussion that could have been avoided.

Agreed. Let's focus on the 10 who are in the playoffs... Should be some interesting games.

If the season ended today...
GCS @ BM - I've got GCS with the bounce back/upset
RPC @ SM - St Marys with the win, but think it should be a good game

Round 2
GCS @ McDonogh - Could get ugly. McD by a running clock
JC @ SPSG (sorry, they won't beat McD so they will be the 4 seed). SPSG gets their revenge
NDP @ AS - AS big
SM @ Maryvale - Maryvale big and BR kicks a puppy

The best team from a talent standpoint is Farmingdale, so I think that who will come out on top, Unfortunately, the team that comes out of Nassau in the A’s will get absolutely wiped out by either HHH, Ward Melville, or Northport. It’s not going to be close.
Farmingdale:
- This is a team that has two really good attackmen, a solid fog and faceoff guy. They have the formula to win the A conference. They have struggled at times this year, but they will find their footing under their new coach. We saw this against Massapequa, a game that wasn’t even close. They have some good underclassmen but I feel this may be their last title for a while. I see them as the second best team in A’s next year and 3rd best for at least the next three years.
Massapequa:
- This is a team that overachieved expectations this year, so far. They lost a lot from a year ago, but their LSM, goalie, and some of the young guys who have stepped up have been the difference. They have some absolutely student freshmen and this will be a very good team in a few years. They will be the second best team in a loaded 'A' conference in a couple of years. I’m just not sure they’ll be balanced enough to win. They lost a really good freshmen goalie to Lawrencevlle and this will hurt them.
Syosset:
- The Syosset record is worse than they actually are. They have had some really unfortunate losses where they have lost their composure and lost the game at the last second. The Cold Spring Harbor and Farmingdale losses come to mind. This team will be dangerous come playoff time, their Hopkins bound midfielder is an absolute student and he can take over a game. They can beat any ‘A’ team come playoff time. However, if the other teams can figure out that one midfielder they don’t stand a chance, he carries them and they don’t have great secondary guys. After this year they will be the worst of the best in the A’s. They don’t have the talent they used to and it may be a while before we see Syosset on top of the A’s.
Port Washington:
- PW has fought valiantly this year and have been in many games they were not supposed to be in. They lost a lot to graduation over the past few years. Now, a very young team with few upperclassmen contributors, they have low chances of winning this year. However, I see a dynasty forming up on the north shore. They have a strong sophomore class, an absolutely loaded freshman class, and already two eighth graders on varsity. Despite their struggles this year I would say they are the favorite to win class A next year and they have the possibility of winning a state championship or two when their freshmen become juniors and seniors. They may have the best goalie in the country in two years, the kid is amazing. How often do you see an eighth grader start in net for the varsity team and stand on his head like he did last year. He will only get better and better. This is a team that has the possibility of replicating what Manhasset did these past two years. We shall see, hopefully arrogance and poor coaching doesn’t get in their way.
*This may be a down year in the A’s but it is a conference with a very bright future. It will be very competitive this year. The power conference really hurt their image this year but the playoffs will be very fun to watch.

B’s: Based on the results we have seen so far. There are two top teams and three in the conversation. I would say that it goes 1. South Side 2. Garden City and 3.Manhasset. I definitely think there is a general belief around Long Island and beyond that Garden City will come out on top and that loss to SouthSide was a fluke. That may be the case, but that championship game will be a fun one.
Garden City:
- I mean it is hard to say anything bad about the Garden City lacrosse programs. Lacrosse is built into the DNA and infrastructure of that town. They won the past two state championships and they have the possibility of doing it again. They do not rebuild, they reload. That being said, let's talk about this year’s team. The strength of their team is their defense as they have an All American defensemen, a star goalie, student defensive middies, and other good poles. They can absolutely shut the opposing team down and we have seen that for the most part this year. Their struggles come at the offensive side of the field. The lefty attackman can sling it and they have a very good middie that can score. However, they don’t have great options after the two and this is why they have dropped some games. It seems that they have shoved up some younger kids that are just not ready. The 8th grade lefty and the tall freshman midfielder are stars in the making, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t know if they are there quite yet. Garden City will need some production from some upperclassmen, other than their two main guys, if they hope to make it three states in a row. I personally think South Side will win this year but this is a team that will run class B across the state for the foreseeable future.
South Side:
- This is South Side’s year. They have a very balanced and loaded senior class. I mean they don’t have many weaknesses. The Fogo going to Cornell can absolutely take over a game. If he remains consistent in the playoffs and generates some offense for the Cyclones I don’t see them losing. They also have two student midfielders, a strong defense, and a goalie that many believe is the best on the island this year. If they all show up to play come May 24th, I think they will take down Garden City. However, based on the past year this seems to be a team that may come into games in an egotistical manner. This year it was the loss to Wantagh. Last season the only reason they lost to a Calhoun team, who had some very good players, was because they didn’t take them seriously. They were looking ahead to Garden City and this turned out to be a fatal mistake. A mistake which I doubt will happen again. Another weakness of this Cyclone team is the talent in their 25’ and 26’ classes. These are classes that got absolutely decimated by kids leaving for the Catholics. Chaminade’s junior midfielder going to Notre Dame and senior defensemen going to North Carolina come to mind. If they had these kids they would be unstoppable but they still should win Nassau this year. When it comes to the LIC’s the winner of the B’s will play an offensively loaded East Islip team and their offense may be too much for any team who plays them. However, if South Side continues to win faceoffs and take off the ball they have a strong chance of moving on to states. For the future, again this SouthSide program got emptied out by the Catholics. They lost all of their All-American caliber players in the 26’ and 25’ classes but have some very good freshmen. Don’t be surprised if you see 5 or so players in the 27’ class starting for them next year. Unfortunately for SS they most likely won’t win another championship soon as all their best 8th graders are leaving for the Catholics. Unless, they get paired with Wantagh in the C’s and then they could make some noise.
Manhasset:
- I think it was very well expected for Manhasset to have a fall off from their previous two years. I mean the 23' class was so special leading them to two state championships and almost an undefeated season a year ago. An undefeated season that was ought to be but the refs kind of handed their one loss to Chaminade. Some of the ref’s calls and the amazing performance by the Rockville Centre, Richmond bound senior attackmen was the difference in that one. I believe he had four of five goals. This year, they just don’t have the offensive stars they are so used to leaning on. I mean their offense has been abysmal this year despite having some solid talent. This may suggest that the coaches have an inability to adapt to a new style of play, a style which they must adapt sooner rather than later. Furthermore, they don't seem to have star caliber players in the next four or more classes. That being said they will need to get more creative if they hope to stand a chance against Garden City in the next four years. This is a team that I think will be worse next year, as well. They are graduating a majority of their defense which is the only reason they have been in and won some of the more competitive games this year. It will be interesting to see, it is rare to see a program like Manhasset struggle. They didn’t lose much talent to the Catholics either, so it is kind of intriguing. However, they would like to have St Anthony's fogo back right about now.
C/D:
Wantagh:
- This is a very talented team this year. They beat SS which was very impressive but got blown out by Garden CIty and lost to Pequa which suggests that that game was a fluke. Wantagh like SS is a well balanced team. They have a good goalie, a good fogo, and some very good offensive players. They will without a doubt win Nassau this year and have a very good chance against an undefeated BBP team. This seems like their year but it is interesting to see how much underclassmen contribution they have. Wantagh will return 5 out of 6 of their top offensive guys next year and are primed for another great season. They will easily win C for the next couple of seasons unless Manhasset and/or South Side gets moved down or CSH gets moved up. If none of that happens C will be a pathetically weak conference and the Power Conference games will mean more than the playoffs, that’s no good.
Cold Spring Harbor:
- CSH is like Set and GC as they always seem to be good. They always have great players and win a majority of their games. However, it is a joke that they are in the D conference. There is absolutely no competition in that conference and an automatic state championship each and every year that they are in it. I believe it is only a one game playoff, just the Nassau county championship before moving on to LICs. It is like the catholic league playoffs, such a joke. The power conference is the only thing making CSH’s season worthwhile. St Anthony’s vs Chaminade has a championship game which each are automatically in, there is no equity in playing regular season games under this model. Especially since St. A’s continues to own their little brother which is Chaminade lacrosse and will continue to do so for at least the next 3 or 4 years.

Conference A is embarrassing. The best team in A would be a 7 loss team in just about every other conference.

Watched the first quarter and the game started out as planned. Next level dominated through out. Other than the Legends game, Team 91 seems to have trouble scoring goals. The question is are they getting better every week?

Predictions
Hawks v. Team 91 - Hawks +8
Legends v. Preds - Legends +5
Madlax v. FCA - Madlax +5
True Chesapeake v. Next Level +2

AAA

Hawks v. HoCo
Another upset with HOCO winning 10-9. I would call it an upset. Especially when the Botton team gets a win like that.

Shore Kaos v. Carroll Manor
Shore Kaos pulled it. They have the ability to score goals but are equally tied with Carroll Manor.

Prostart v. Team MD
Well Team Maryland pulled of the spoiler with a large win. There ability to score goals helped them in the end. Hopefully in the future they can limit them to help along the way.

True NOVA - Bethesda Blue -
Nova won 11- 9 . They continue to score many goals which has kept them at the top. The gap between nova and everyone else is getting bigger but he week. If NOVA does this consistently they win it all.

Predictions
Team Maryland v. Bethesda Blue - Team Maryland +1
Hawks v. NOVA - NOVA +9
Carroll Manor v. HOCO - Carroll Manor +3 - Upset of the week with HOCO winning.
Prostart v. Shore Kaos - Shore Kaos +1

Lots not talking

Did GFS even survive against Mercy?

GFS 15-8 over Mercy.

They had a lot of talented girls on offense which is why they scored a lot of goals. All but one of those girls is a senior. So, I’m not sure how they will improve in the A conference without a JV and half the team graduating.

They will not survive in the A conference. They barely survived in A this year with all of the talent they had. Only two of the 11 girls returning next year played a significant amount of time this year. 3 of the 11 are goalies. All others stood on the sidelines for the last year +. Coaches told a few of the girls there are only 2 incoming freshman, which leaves a team of 13 plus whoever else decides they want to be a lacrosse player for a season.

This is not true. I know for a fact there are 7 coming in from other places not to mention anyone coming from the middle school. If some of the girls at McD, Maryvale, St Pauls etc who are on JV now may never see varsity (regardless of how good they are) they should consider looking at schools like GFS and/or GCS where they can get excellent opportunities to contribute to the lacrosse programs.

7 girls coming in? From where? The only ones the girls on the team have heard coming in next year are the 2 2028’s from M&D.

Sure, Rubeor left for Mass. to "take care of a family member."

That's the kind reason he gave Loyola admin when he resigned.

The truth is, he saw LB was a mess and didn't want to stay at there for all the other political reasons mentioned.

Once in MA he decided to take a full time gig coaching at Thayer and another gig coaching for the Atlas.

It's so interesting to me how much money Millon has been able to make on the back of this consistent business model.

One of biggest reason MM focused on his sons teams and them. Gotta give MM credit, one of the more disliked people in lacrosse community, yet had his son as the number 1 recruit, talked about constantly and now starting at UVA all the while making a pile of money off the dreamers of lacrosse who fall by the wayside thinking they will end up like his son. .

I can't even begin to tell you HOW SPOT ON THIS IS - HAHAHAHAHA!!!

Then they should all holdback like his son did.

That is just step 1. Then switch schools to find the school and coach that will play your son. Make sure you coach your son and run offense at him every play. Scream at anyone that touches him. Scream at anyone that doe not give your son the ball. Make fun of other players. Make videos highlighting your son only. etc, etc etc,,,And always, I mean always ,,Make sure it is about your son !

I hope you didn’t stay up all night thinking of that one, DEast dad. Your son’s team is not good, hasn’t played anybody worth mentioning so stay at the kiddie table til we call you over, okay?
