When will Suffolk section xi ask teams like Middle Country and Half Hollow Hills to play with the proverbial big girls and actually play as two HS instead of One? Sidelines last year seem to support enough players...it's time. Imagine if some of the other districts in Suffolk could combine.

West Islip and West Babylon will do well this year in Suffolk. ESM for B Schools. Mt. Sinai will be tough to beat for the C schools. Manhasset has a very fast/athletic junior class and will be a force. GC is always strong.

Ward melville will be a stretch. They lost a lot of talent with last years grad class and thier coach doesn't know which end of the stick to use.

Spoken like a true Ward Melville parent. Comment about which end of the stock, is accurate. The team will be very good as usual in spite of the coach.

And the worst coach award goes to , John Glenn. Seriously 25-1 . The funny thing is you would think the Glenn coach would be sympathetic considering his team has stunk for years. Be proud coach.

This is why I hate how SectionXI does the divisions and scheduling. I feel that 85% of all games are blowouts. That's pointless for both sides. And yes, shame on Glenn, although not surprised they did it.

Makes no difference how you do the schedules in this case, Southampton is a first year varsity program playing one of the lowest seeded programs in the county, they have to play someone.I do not care what Glenn says that is poor sportsmanship, they were scoring at a rate of 1 goal every 2 minutes. Atleast pass it around and kill some time.

Does Nassau schedule differently? IDK and too lazy to look.
Totally agree about Glenn. There are other options than running up the score. Although I know on our HS team when we're up by a lot and the coach says to stop scoring there are still those who go to goal. Some of it is uncoachability (I may have made that word up) but most of it is about running up their numbers. Our coach pulls them though, IDK what Glenn's excuse is.

To bad Lax can't have a league like girls soccer does where the lower level teams can play each other with the best teams out of that league moving up the following season. They can have the teams with the four worst records in both leagues play in this league and have those 8 teams have a home and home with each of the other teams. You would also need to factor in teams that are first yeat lax programs also into the mix; but you get the idea.
The problem with Glenn and Bellport (the same day or the day before) is that they don't get the chance to whoop anyone so they took advantage of the opportunity. Like someone else made refernece to; Karma is a [lacrosse]

I certainly prefer the soccer model over the lacrosse model of league alignment.
Can anyone explain why it's different? I've heard it's because there are fewer lax teams but then why not just have fewer leagues?

Glenn is ussually on the other end of blowouts. they lose by 10 15 goals quite often. They wanted to see how it feels to actually be on the winning side of a blowout.

All the programs are ranked at the beginning of the season and divisions are made based off the rankings regardless of Class (A,B,C). Typically makes for more competitive league games throughout the season.

How are teams that make the playoffs determined ,obviously teams in the same class will be playing completely different teams during the regular season. There are 5 conferences. All the teams in the first conference make the playoffs in their respective Class. Conf II gets a certain amount of teams based on record and strength of schedule. That formula continues for Conf III - V. Look at Newsday to see how they are setup. http://scores.newsday.com/sports/highschool/standings.php?sport=27®ion=NAS

Smithtown 19-0 over cop , at least they did not cross into the 20 zone but to have 1 ball hog kid get 11 points is ridiculous. Another poor job of coaching , obviously did not need 1 kid to score that many , but I guarantee that kids mommy and daddy are so proud .

The poster has a point - did Smithtown empty its bench? If so, when? Or did they play their starters most of this nailbiter of a game?

Yes, a lot of dislike for the players and coaches who allow the players to be stat builders in blowout games so the can be on Newsdays point leaders board .No possible reason for Smithtown to even keep that kid in the game long enough to get 11 points. I have no problem w a player scoring the majority of its teams goals if its in the context of winning a game, obviously not the case here .

It is a shame this what newsday creates,it has been going on for years. Unfortunately this is not the end of this. Hopefully the coaches control these players and in their write ups for the game instead of always putting all the acalades and attention to the kid who continues to chase the points maybe write about the kid who is the team player.
