Terrapins have another tournament this weekend. Hawks, Roughriders, FCA, Leading Edge playing in it. Let’s just play and forget all the hypothetical BS.

You are right here is a correction!
NOVA SPOTLIGHT - RESULTS from today's Terrapin Classic:
Madlax Capital/Evergreen 9 vs Patriots 5 Patriots 7 vs Blackwolf/Evergreen 4
Madlax Capital/Evergreen 13 vs STEPS 2 Blackwolf/Evergreen 7 vs STEPS 6
My son tells me more players from Evergreen will be moving to MadLax and Blackwolf this summer for better competition and less of these Rec/B level tournaments Evergreen attends.
Evergreen seems to do very well developing talent for the other local clubs. The players from Evergreen have been a great addition to our team. Yes, Blackwolf parent here. Great midfield and defense including some with injuries. Attack can be improved - not very impressive on the small and non-aggressive side. Summer should be interesting if we can avoid injuries.
Don't get it. The Madlax Capital team that played in the Terrapin Classic had no Evergreen players and "Madlax Capital/Evergreen" does not make sense. The BW team had/has half a dozen Evergreen players and that tall middie is the only elite player. How can Evergreen have been a "great addition" when the team did not exist prior to the fall and the Evergreen players were there on Day 1? BW is on the decline, no matter what parents of former 3d/Evergreen players think. The only common thread is the cancerous parents who decided to bolt from 3d 2022. The BW 2022 goalie is also an elite level goalie and one of the best in the age group. He will be a D1 prospect. BW is struggling. They still have talent but not enough to form a pure 2022 team. They had to use 2023's who are fine but playing up which is tough to do v. 2022 elite competition. The tall middie is a top player and a few BW players will get to the next level. This is not an elite team but a makeshift team/showcase. 2023 is an even a smaller pool. Evergreen had some good 2022's from 3d (good not great) but Evergreen 2023 is lower B and will not help BW. VLC starting earlier has taken even more talent in 2023 which leaves little for BW as DC Dogs kids are not going there so no Madlax leftovers. This may be the last BW team. Sounds about right including the lack of talent at 2023. At 2023 in NVA, it is Madlax DC Dogs on one level and everyone else is a big step down. Sure, if you want to squabble over whether DC Dogs is a NVA team, fine. It is not your normal Madlax squad where 75% of the team is from McLean but there are a bunch of VA players on DC Dogs and a bunch more would like to be. There are NOT a bunch of VA players DC Dogs. More like 2 kids from the defunct Madlax 23 Capital team who are on the bottom of the DC Dogs roster. DC Dogs is good right now, but their advantage lies in 8 holdbacks who are big. In 2 years, that advantage will disappear.

Ha ha ha - Roughriders beating Ripley’s holdback Hawks. That’s great. Puberty son... 😂 Everyone really wants to beat the Hawks. Even during fall ball it means something to these other clubs to win. Hawks players were laughing and having a good time, even after they lost to RR. RR coach wanted Hawks players kicked out of the game because of body checks. What a joke. FCA Coach was losing it during their game against the Hawks. Poor guy is going to have a heart attack. It’s HS level ball now people. Relax and enjoy the process.

Hawks donut eating goalie took a cheap shot late in the game when RR where up late with ball. Goalie got full time unreleaseable penalty and should have been ejected.

The "body check" was actually a crosscheck to the face mask and throat. It was high and it injured the player and there was a flag. Not surprised to see Hawks parents think that is "a Joke".

And some clubs will cut kids they developed since 3rd grade for re-class kids (who are not as good) just because the dads are friends at the same country club.

That “donut eating goalie” rocked that kid chest to chest. Ref. Dropped the flag because the RR parents(old api group) started doing the crying.

RR Head Coach should have had a clear view of the hit. It was at chest level and shouldn’t have been called. No head of neck involved. It was big kid hitting a little one so it looked worse than it was. Sorry the player was injuries but that happens in contact sports. Go watch your video before you call the kid names and bad mouth him.

Ref flew the flag immediately and then conferred with his counterpart to determine length of full serve penalty, not if it was a foul or not. People like you turn the conversation ugly. No one would be talking about this hit or the players involved if you didn’t bring it up.

Ref threw the flag immediately.Had his hand in his pocket grabbing at the flag as the player hit the ground. Even the offending player turned and looked right at the ref after he did it. Helmet to helmet on first contact with a cross check to the chest that road up into the players throat and helmet. Hawks player extended his arms all the way out. That is a penalty. Good call by the ref.

Rawriders love taking cheap shots at opponents and now they are crying because it happened to them? The only crying came from whoever this Hawks dad is who pointed out that RR coaches wanted a penalty on a high hit. No one on the RR side thought the game was dirty or cheap or thinks the player is dirty or cheap. It was a penalty that was called a penalty and everyone but you moved on. With all the success that the Hawks have had, I guess you forgot how to lose graciously. Happy holidays!

Enough of the histrionics, now for the lacrosse analysis, RRs were the best coached team on the carpet at Byrd. They have a current high school/college level coach who game plans and makes adjustments accordingly. The RRs didn't foul as much as their opponents and their MDD and EMO sets were much more effective than their counterparts. They have consistently shown this over the past summer and fall. Outdated and one dimensional offenses and ineffective transition games are easy prey for an experienced and well prepared coaching staff and team. I do like the fact that the Crabs, Team 91, RRs, Hawks and FCA are all within several goals of each other talent wise. It makes for fun competitive lacrosse. What you're going to see over the next three years on the club scene is that coaching matters more the older the boys get. Last summer and this fall's results are a harbinger of things to come. Any club that rests on its laurels and doesn't improve (player development, acquisition and most importantly coaching wise) won't reach its potential.
