Better Hawks and API players went to either dematha or St. John's

Is one of the Hawks goalies really a 2023 grad year? Will he drop down to the 2023 Hawks Team this year?

Where else is he going to play when the other boys are playing in high school?

Word is he is headed to Crabs. Played with them in LI at NLF.

Are you saying they will win the MIAA Varsity because of the 2022 API and hawks class coming in?
maybe JV

JV this year easy... Next year playoffs MIAA Varsity... Following year MIAA Champions ..

Clearly you've never coached or even played on an A Conference championship team at the Varsity level. If you had you wouldn't be pontificating...in other words its really tough to take a perennial cellar dweller and win a championship much less make the semis.

Clearly you have no idea the talent the will be there shortly

Talent and potential alone don’t win championships. Player development, game planning and in game adjustments are equally important. Having the best building materials doesn’t guarantee the house will be well built. You need a seasoned successful builder and some great sub-contractors (assistant coaches) who work well together. Talent is great but having great blueprint, experience making critical coaching decisions in A conference or top level collegiate lacrosse is equally important. Given the influx of talent, I would be disappointed if Spading didn’t make the playoffs (the top 6) during the next two years but making the semis and winning a championship is an aspirational goal at best.

No matter what these articles say...Holding back/reclass/prefirst works in lacrosse. Now does it always work. Of course not. But many of top youth teams are loaded with them as are prep schools.

Lacrosse doesnt always get a lot of the pure thoroughbred athletes . They go to football, baseball, BB, Hockey the full scholarship and money sports. So we are talking about many kids that skill wise are in the same medium. An extra year helps all the way up to college. It does.. Now the true athlete will over come these older players, but the same age player just a little better than his peers at same age will not overcome the year older player. The older player gets all the attention and playing time in youth and it continues in HS........It stinks..but it is true.

I dont find that holdbacks work as well in BB, FB, BB, etc at top teams due to the pure athlete are all so athletic at a young age and it carries on thru HS and college.

The 5-8 to 6-0 white guy needs some sport ..Lacrosse used to be his domain. It still mainly is , but it is starting to be evaded by others, and that extra year helps many of these guys!

You may think that... But if you are from Baltimore, being on a top team or top school is true bliss, means justify the end.

If you think lacrosse leads in holdbacks you are truly clueless. Football and basketball do it way more and all across the country. Nice try with your theory though.

Agree he is clueless. What end are you speaking of? Wasting another year of club or private school money for what end? Getting a partial scholarship that for lacrosse amounts to little to nothing. Put the money toward a tutor and have your kid play for fun and actually add to society. Ignorant and provincial. Thats why they all come back to baltimore. Cant survive outside this bubble.

Does McD recommend transfering lacrosse players repeat 8th grade? Is it more prevalent with that school. I knew McD lead the way with prefirst. Is there any on age kid who will be in 8th grade this fall at McD? And where do most of those kids play lacrosses? Seeking facts. Don’t care about the arguments for or against it.

Dont get your panties all knotted up Francis. The white guy part was meant in humor.

Darwin would actually agree with me Francis. """"it is not the most intellectual of the species that survives; it is not the strongest that survives; but the species that survives is the one that is able best to adapt and adjust to the changing environment in which it finds itself. Darwin """"""

Holdbacks/reclass/prefirsts are adapting..They cant compete with their own age group and adapt by adding a year and then competing against the younger species.

Francis please relax, might want to learn how to structure a argument. Advice, try to stay focused and relevant to issue.

To go off track like you. At least the white guy was able to name the " American Indian Sport ". I do believe in today's political climate it should be " Native American Sport ". Lucky for us some French Jesuit decided to give it a proper name instead of pa-ka-ha-to, begadwe, etc. They did let the Tewaaraton Award slip in somehow. Does anyone even know how to say that word?

Spalding needs to win a playoff game before anyone can take them seriously. Its funny the API and Hawks parents will now be on the same sideline drinking the same KOOL AID.(funny how that works) Its a good thing Spalding expects and encourages KOOL AID drinking. Both teams under achieved this year by their own standards and are heading into a school notorious for under achieving. Hopefully the parents egos will finally take a back seat so the very talented kids can find some kind of success. With all the major egos and KOOL AID drinking going on there will be no where to hide win they get the same old same old same old at Spalding . Please wait till they win a playoff game before you start talking crap while still drinking the KOOL AID.

Such a sad but true statement. I don't even want my son around half of the parents/kids/coaches that are associated with this sport. I look around at the prep school graduates and Ivy league dads on the sidelines and I just hope my son becomes a much better person than his so called role models. It is a pathetic group that truly cannot survice anywhere but this bubble they created.

Pretty Funny, But many outsiders that come to Baltimore find it a very clickish .

The first words out of a local you meet in Baltimore are ..Where do you live? What do you do? And the save the most IMPORTANT for last..... ..Where do your kids go to school ? That one you cant fudge like your job and residence . It better be one of the Big Private Schools !

After that , you may never get insider status, but at least they can put you in the proper group where you belong.

It's 4 long years for anyone who goes to Spalding. What a horrible decision - bad academics and bad lacrosse.

My suggestion is to have the MIAA A Conference 2020, 2021 and 2022 championship T-Shirts printed up early like the 2013 BL Team did....that worked out well.....

Is the same coach down last year returning for Koopers 2022? What is going on with Looneys 2022?

Best Hawks 2022 are going to Spalding. Best 4 defenders/LSMs, Best Faceoff guy, Best 2 middies, 2 top attack. Kids going to ST Johns and Landon are very talented BUT they are the supporting cast of the Spalding players. To say otherwise is comical

Correct,,,New Sheriff in town boys!

Laughable to think that any of those Hawks kids are going to step on an MIAA field and dominate as freshman. Or even make much of a difference for that matter. Spalding will always be middle of the pack at best.

Sure there are several changes at all the top team with this being the last year everyone has tryouts. DC Express has fallen apart. Several kids going to Madlax from DCE and also from Hawks. Crabs cut a bunch of kids. Sure FCA will make some changes as well. Roughriders best player moved down to 2023. Looneys folded their team and most those kids going to Koopers.

Lot of movement.

Could be a long 4 years for the api kids going to Spalding.

It's 4 long years for anyone who goes to Spalding. What a horrible decision - bad academics and bad lacrosse.

Not if the parents are all drinking the same KOOL AID! After all it is not the kids egos that will be broken but the parents.

Funny post on the Sabre Lacrosse Board about the Death of Balwmore Lacrosse. Specifically references the Crabs/MIAA/Hopkins style of lacrosse... The shot clock will kill this deliberate pace of play O. Bang to X, rotate ball up top and alley dodge. Not sure the D1 coaches want to give up control.... Even if its better for the gate and the TV ratings...translation more $$$

Freshman may start but are almost never stars as freshman in the A Conference. Delusional to think otherwise. In all fairness to Spalding, if their freshmen and sophomore class develop and they keep recruiting talent this will be the first time in School history they have a critical mass of talent to compete for the semis. This assumes this unproven staff (no experience winning consistently in the A Conference) can "coach them up" and get them to the point where they can compete at the highest level. I wish them only the best (it would be great to have another great program in the Conference) but I would strongly suggest not bragging about what are clearly aspirational goals.
