who cares who the best player is, and how they play in college, there is no career for them as a player after college so does it really matter. Not like they have a professional womens lacrosse league and she will be negotiating her 8 million dollar salary for 7 years Ok so then we might as well not care about anything in life. Boys stop wrestling , there is no professional wrestling. Why does every parent of a kid that's not that good say that.....jealousy

You guys are ridiculous. The girl that won MVP is without question the best 2020 in the country. You LI folks should be familiar with her as she is listed as YJ commit to Syracuse on their website. She moved to Florida a couple years ago. Why are you hating on a 16 year old girl? She also dominated at the UA Underclass last summer. Guess there’s no competition there either? She’s never lived on Long Island She just played here one summer and was a non factor on YJ team

The south team beat Baltimore in pool play, Philly in the playoffs and lost an OT game to Baltimore in the semi finals. By far the best pure scorer at UA Command tourney last summer and yes I watched LI and New England play. I did not see the School Girls event so no idea how she played in that tourney, but she is clearly one of the best attackers at 2020 in the country.

Congrats to the LI teams at the schoolgirls national tournament this weekend taking 1 and 2nd. That said ridiculous how US lacrosse is promoting the superstar from down south . The MVP of the tournament was from a non compete lower division , have never seen that before , and is absolutely ridiculous . Wow. Sour grapes much. She’s the mvp because she is by far the best player yhetr No sour grapes, the award has never gone to a player in the lower level non play off brackets . Best player in country is laughable , the kid would be a good player on LI . US lacrosse is trying to promote the sport which is all it is . Congrats to YJ on having another one of their players winning the award . I am a LI lacrosse fan, but you need to get over it. She is a great player. Also, JMU managed to win a national championship without a single goal, assist or save from a LI player. The game is more than just Nassau and Suffolk county...

She is a very good player and a very good scorer but not the best player at that age group which is incredibly talented country-wide. If you asked the girl or her parents they would tell you that there are better kids out there - certainly more complete players and better athletes. She would certainly be in the discussion but people who watched her UA team last year will tell you she was not the most complete player on that team.

Her American Heritage FL team beat St. Stephens & St. Agnes VA who beat Darien CT who beat Garden City NY and lost to Manhasset NY by 1. That American Heritage team from Florida is legit and you need to open your mind to the fact that great players come from more than just the 516 and 631...

Lets keep this simple, Florida player is very good and deservingly recognized as one of the best players in the country at her age group, especially on the offensive end. Very subjective to say who the best person is in any sport. All that said, it is very hard to believe that a player that has been playing lax since she was probably five years old can go from being a solid player on the top YJ team for a full summer to the best player in the country in two short years. Especially when they are not much bigger or stronger or faster. It seems fairly impossible to be honest. It certainly helps that she plays in Florida and has the coaching she has. She is one of many players that will be fun to watch at the next level.

There are plenty of other players already verbally committed from Long Island that maybe didn't participate in this tournament. What really makes her the best???

They do it during the recruiting process, they do it during club team tryouts, They do it when the School girl teams are selected, they do it when Inside Lacrosse puts out their player rankings, they do it when UA Underclass Teams are selected, they do it after UA Seniors are announced , they do it all the time. This is just another example. Congratulations to the player and her parents for earning MVP at School Girls. The just can't admit that another player is better than their daughter. There is always an excuse.

There was great competition at UA. It is by far the most competitive and prestigious select event there is. She may have dominated her team, but many other players dominated their team as well, and ultimately the tournament MVP went to the most deserving girl on the winning team. I will say that schoolgirls is also a very prestigious event as well, made up of many/most of all the same girls who played UA, no surprise. It is funny how so many people cry politics on these select tryout events, yet it is many of the same girls selected from two completely different events with zero common connection. Anyway congrats to the kid for mvp, but I too, like the original poster was surprised by this selection.

I know for a fact that a goalie that was scored highly ended up on the 3rd team. Beside the fact that many girls did not even try out for sg. Memorial Day is a tough wknd. And UA is completely biased and run by ppl who make sure their club girls are the top choices. If fla girl and her team are that good why weren’t they in top division?

Many of the same "impartial" people are involved with selection for UA and School Girls. The same clubs are represented and very often take care of their own, whether picking their player or not picking someone perceived as their player's competition on the recruiting circuit. Here are the School Girls coaches for 2018. All these people were evaluators... LI Metro 1: Matthew Maloney (Mattituck) & Steve Levy (East Islip /LEGACY) LI Metro 2: Mary Bergmann (Westhampton) & Thomas Carro (Suffolk CC/YJ) LI Metro 3: John Geagan (Mercy) & David Kotowski (Holy Trinity/ELEVATE)

So it appears in Nassau that teams outside the Power Conference really fall off a cliff with talent and depth. Just look at the playoff scores. Teams that had great seasons in the lower divisions are getting rocked. When will Suffolk follow suit and give the weaker teams a break?

Anyway congrats to the kid for mvp, but I too, like the original poster was surprised by this selection. They cry politics on everything. Recruiting , Club Team, School Girl, Under Armour you name it. Logic and reason are thrown out the windo as is reality.

Can we talk about Counties coming up? Mattituck vs Babylon tonight. Any predictions for Thursday? No surprise in Mattituck over Babylon, defense holds their leading scorer to 1 point. I'm routing for West Islip over Northport, I think West Babylon has what it needs for win against ESM and Mt Sinai over Westhampton.

[quote=Anonymous][quote=Anonymous]who will be Wantagh's coach next year? Why do you say that? A YJ coach will be on the move to a lacrosse town after striking out at one that's not Only problem, wantagh isnt a lacrosse town anymore. they had a nice run though. County Finals Wantagh vs CSH. Not a bad run for a non lacrosse town. Winning the finals last season and in the finals again this year. Who exactly did Wantagh beat to get to the championship game??? Nobody Let it go already you obviously have an axe to grind with Wantagh. They have exceeded expectations regardless of what happens in the final. Really, back to back finals and this stunad questions Wantagh lacrosse. Bad team in a bad conference, lets stop with the BS about making it to county championship, embarrassed doesn't begin to describe Wantagh lacrosse tonight

Why do we even play the regular season in Nassau? CSH, Manhasset, Garden City all there again at the end....Congratulations. NO surprise that the teams that have deep rosters because they share the ball keep beating up on teams that run everything through a few players. I cant ever recall a Newsday top scorer from any of these teams

I cant ever recall a Newsday top scorer from any of these teams I don't care if my daughters team wins. As long as my daughter scores 3 or 4 goals I am happy. Who cares if she takes 14 shots? Certainly not the coach... Who cares if she is detriment to the team? Not the coach... Scoring goals is all that matters. My daughters coach doesn't stop her from going to the goal so it must be okay. There are a couple of other players who also try to force their way to goal and the coach says nothing to them either. I guess it is all good. What I can't figure out is why we never make it to the county finals... forget about winning a championship we can't even get to the finals. I just don't understand it, I think they need to get the ball to my daughter more so she can shoot more.

For the guy constantly bashing Wantagh Girls Lacrosse
Let's be honest...you are
- Not a CSH parent/fan because they are too classy and would not stoop this low. They are a very good team that improved as the year progressed. They lost to this terrible Wantagh team albeit it was very early in the season. I wish them luck against the Suffolk C champs and I think they can win it all.
- Another C level team parent/fan that is not that good and can never get past the C level Power Conference schools (CSH, NS, and Wantagh).
- More than likely a Wantagh parent/fan...a typical - whose kid gets no playing time or perhaps did not make the varsity this year even though more than a handful of 9th graders made it due to lack of depth. Of course they were embarrassed last night because they expect more out of themselves and did not want to let the program down. I looked back (5) years and see they have been five time semi-finalists, four time finalist (two in B and two in C), two time Nassau County Champs (one in B and one in C), They have quite a few girls that are playing D1 lacrosse so stop being a keyboard cowboy and take little Susie to the wall a few more times so she can improve and maybe get on the field this way all us fans can get to hear you yell "Go to goal"...

Carle Place girls would beat either one of them....would be a good game, but Frogs prevail in end...and they will prove it against Mattituck!

The parents on our team are more worried about points and padding that college resume than ever winning the counties. Selfish teams with selfish players and their get recruited at all cost parents never seem to win. Great to see JMU win it all without a single LI scorer. It's a beautiful game when that ball gets spread around and it starts in PAL

Not only did LI Metro 1 take the top division , they played LI Metro 2 in the championships. Both teams did very well in the top division.
