How do folks see 2017-2018 shaping up? Here's a stab at preseason rankings to begin the debate;
1 Madlax 2 T91 MD 3 BLC 4 Hawks 5 Next Leval

Next Level? Where's Looneys(5th) and Crabs(6th)?

Next Level is not even in the AA division and until they compete against the best of the best that the 2024's have to offer, they can't even be considered in this conversation. I agree with the list above, but I think you'll see MM and his 9d1 team do whatever they can to try and topple MadLax. I would also offer that the Hawks and Looney's could be a shoot out this year because they split their games last year. No doubt Madlax gets the pre-season number 1 spot, but don't underestimate Crabs, they always seem to find a way to field a good team. I'd also like to see a few of the A teams like Next Level, Rough Riders, and Breakers come up and compete. They are running over the rest of the A division and it would be good to see a little more diversity in the teams at the AA level for 2024.

Next Level? Where's Looneys(5th) and Crabs(6th)? Yep. Looneys and Crabs definitely go before Next Level. Would be great if Next Level would play AA this Spring, so that all the real AA teams can get an easy win.

MM is tired of losing to Madlax and he is on a mission, and Crabs are going to get better. But as long as the big middie keeps playing Madlax, they are going to be a juggernaut. Don't know why that kid doesn't play up.

Next Level? Where's Looneys(5th) and Crabs(6th)? 1 Madlax (will probably win Spring league for 4th year in a row) 2 T91 MD (this age group is getting talent that might have gone to Crabs) 3 Hawks (quality wins and always a contender, lots of weapons) 4 BLC (they are struggling at this age group because kids already dropped down to 2025, and Madlax and Next Level are spreading MoCo talent) 5 Looneys 6 Crabs (will get better but this age group will struggle like 2022 does because 2023 is top team and kids will not drop down to 2024)

BLC will be lights out at 2024 this year - several boys from Club Blue 23 now playing at BLC 24 - on grade - you will soon see a very different team.
Next Level has been decimated by BLC and DCE Tryouts - all best kids have left. 2023 is only exception - good team at NL as has Great Coach.
BLC 23 also significantly upgraded - 3 kids from Crabs - 2 from Madlax - all good.

NL is moving up to AA. They will be better than the Looney's and Crabs (if its the same 24 Crabs a last year) and will be able to hold their own.
People don't give NL enough credit... Solid program with some great coaches.

NL has been jump started 3x in the past after failures. We'll see if version 4.0 works this time.

BLC 2024 did get a few Club Blue 2023 reclasses, in a couple of cases, double reclasses. Let's hear it for the 13/14 year old 6th graders!!

So BLC with the holdbacks and double holdbacks is taking a page from Crabs playbook? Love it - BLC is the Crabs of MoCo.

People don't give NL enough credit... Solid program with some great coaches. NL is a solid program for kids that aren't good enough to play BLC or Madlax. Nice soft place to land until they can tryout again.

This forum seems entirely consumed with the AA level of 2024, any 2024 A teams worth watching or that should compete at a higher level. Not everything revolves around these 5 or 6 teams at the 2024 level.

Grade based lacrosse has only been around for 3 years so how could BLC have been doing this for "a long time" Unless you are new to the sport and only know about recent history

OK. Let's talk about some other clubs then. What do people think of Club Blue. They are strong at 2023 any chance of fielding a solid 24 team?

Breakers, Rough Riders and Next Level all moving up to AA this season. Can anyone confirm this is true for Breakers and Rough Riders? Next Level seems to be confirmed but the others are speculation at this point.

There is no way those teams step into the AA division. Looneys Orange finished second to last in AA and slaughtered Breakers and RR.

RR is Western Howard County doesn't have the critical mass of kids to compete at a high level at any age group. Can't see these teams moving up.

AA teams are not 40% holdbacks. Please.
Also, there is no team worth talking about other than Madlax 2024. Best club in the US also.

BLC will be strong this year, especially because they added so many reclassed players from last years, 2023 team. Should be fun to watch those older kids run over the properly placed 6th graders. Much like when Congrats on the stand-up program. BLC = Crabs from the South.

Madlax and T91MD will still beat BLC -- even if BLC cheats with reclassed kids.

I watched that team play a couple of times last year. Solid play in goal, some excellent middies and great coaching. It will be interesting to see how the players reshuffle after tryouts.

Yeah right, Next Level dad. You just happened to be watching NL "play a couple of times last year." NL is a fine single A team, but they would get spanked in AA.

BLC lost to MD91 12-3 in HoCo this spring. No doubt they've added some very good players (their tournament record in the summer was a big improvement) but too early to see how they'll stack up (e.g. other teams improve too).

So what's the prediction for 2024? MLax clearly the top team, but who is most likely to challenge them? Assume BLC, Hawks, MD88+3 most likely. Any sense of improvements?

That's the great thing about HoCo. Any of these teams can win any week. Lots of great competition. Madlax added some new talent, but it doesn't look like their Capital roster will change drastically. One kid may move to attack, and they have a new mid that is pretty good. How about the other three?
