LI Parents, the MD girls are doing your girls a favor. Think of how well prepared they will be for Varsity lacrosse next year. Playing against older, better girls has its benefits.

Which tournament is it that these Maryland parents think is a true national championship ? They always have some excuse as to why the tournament they don't win is not but never name the one that is .It seems three history is attending these national championship tournaments such as national draw and the U15 etc., losing to usually LI clubs then no longer going .

It's a stupid concept calling one tournament a national championship. All the teams played each other in 2 tournaments(Lax for the Cure and Mid Atlantic Championships) this summer and more than that last year(add Laxin out Loud). They also play each other at Summer Genesis and G8. All the good teams are at these events. LI teams haven't won any of these events in the last 2 years. And as far as the tournament MD teams don't win....they win every tournament they are in.

National Draw is a joke now too. M&D 2021 won it the only time they played in it so find another excuse on that one.

Too funny any tournament that the MD teams don't go to anymore because they got their butts kicked are terrible . The MD people are the only ones making excuses why they no longer will attend tournaments based on age . Do the LI people come in here saying that some of these tournaments are played when NY school teams are still playing or are graduation weekend for many LI teams ,no. You can say that Maryland girls don't get held back but UA dates of birth tell a different story .

So after going through the first summer under the recruiting rule change, what do you think the consequences are?

1. Think twice about spending money on expensive showcases this coming year. There was a massive drop in college coach attendance at some top 2020 (9th grade) showcases this summer, so expect the same next summer when the 2021s are that age. The 2018-2019 season will be the big one for the 2021s.

2. Consider whether to bother with too many college ID camps. The focus will be almost entirely on 2020s this coming year.

3. The importance of your club's prior relationships with college coaches is diminished now regardless how much bragging and boasting the club directors engage in. There will be much less guess work on the part of college coaches, who probably did rely on club directors prior to the rule change. They were committing 8th and 9th graders who were still physically developing, but now they have plenty of time to see the girls play after most of them are much closer to full athletic development, and the girls are more mature about their decisions.

4. The pressure is off young girls now, and a lot of power has been shifted from club directors to the players. I think club directors are feeling it, too. This is a good thing.

Plus, high school coaches could end up back in the equation. That would be interesting considering that quite a few of the club coaches are also high school coaches.

The rule change has gutted the players ability to evaluate these coaches, programs and schools. You may not see that until offers come on 9/1 of their junior year and the pressure to commit is immediate. How much interaction did your daughter have with the coaches, the athletic support staff, academic staff and a detailed tour and overview of the school before making this decision? If you have multiple offers, now you have to find time to make all those visits or make that decision blindly? This going on during your fall sports season in a critical academic time as well. Under the old system, parents and players willing to put in the work had all this done ahead of making a decision.

Name me one tournament where the MD teams get their butts kicked? Hasn't ever happened for 2021 teams.

Oh, please. The process is the same, just in a shortened format. A format, let me be clear, that is pretty new in the recruitment world. Just 8 years ago players were <gasp> committing in their junior years and everyone was fine with that.

I also question the judgement skills of 14- and 15yos when evaluating their futures.

Great point about high school coaches being relevant again. They will have one or two seasons seeing how each player performs against older girls. At the strong high school programs, there are sometimes 10+ D1 commits among the juniors and seniors. Performing well playing with or against teams like that must help the future recruit.

Anything that takes power away from an arrogant club director is a great thing for the players. They aren't all bad, of course, but the bad ones are absolutely insufferable and bully the girls and parents into thinking that they can't do it without the club director's blessing. It's just not true anymore (and really was never true to begin with -- any girl at a great lax college got there on her own talent and ability).

So are you saying MD was not intellectual enough in the past when they would show up and get their butts kicked or did getting their butts kicked when playing on age make them "intellectual" enough not to go. Be careful I have found the ages of last years UA team and let's say some of the best players are just a little older .

What is there to "be careful" of? Hurting your feelings? We'll just let the a@@ kickins' do that. Please share your "411" on the dob.

The reality is that we have 20-30 clubs within 30 miles of each other that require competition to make a 20-22 player roster. Good luck withyour 23-27 girls on a team from a tri state area.

If I had a nickel for every LI that bitched about their kids team I would put it towards etiquette lessons for all of ya. Talk about losers!

What happened Liberty? Maybe you should play in real tournaments next summer so you can find out earlier that your team is a B team.

That's hilarious coming from a team that needed to bring a couple of sophomores to compete. CR really trusted her true 2021 team to win without the ringers.

Well all you Liberty parents that talked so much crap all summer while your team hid in B tournaments finally figured out that YJ had an off day when you beat them?

So let me get this straight...LI teams dominate National Championship because no MD teams are there? MD teams are not there because it is an age based tournament and their 2021 rosters don't have many actual U14s?

The only competition YJ, TG and Liberty faced were each other and some would say the Liberty didn't give YJ any competition. So these 3 teams had to travel to VA to face each other, when they could do it in their own backyard. As for why other teams from all over the country pay to go there to be dominated by 3 LI teams is a mystery to me.

Am I missing something? Whole thing seems absurd.

One girl, she was great but if you think that is why you lost 12-4 then you are fooling yourself. 12-4 was a gift, YJ could have picked the final score. Like I said back in June, Karma for your trash talk. How do you feel about the YJ draw group now that dominated today? By the way, U-14 event not 2021.

Your 2021 team lost to liberty during the season. Now, YJ and TG both brought their full rosters plus a couple age eligible 2020s and want to brag, while Liberty showed up with their true 2021 roster. Say what you want but I'm pretty sure where I'd want my daughter if I lived on LI.

CR knew her draw girl(s), are some of the weakest in the age group, and replaced them with 2020's. Smart from a coaching standpoint. But that team doesn't win by that margin with their usual draw girl. They win less that 20% of the draws with their current draw girl.

Hey, what was the name of the tournament, U-14 National championship not 2021. YJ brought one girl, she was great, but really, that is your excuse for 12-4?

The young ladies taking the draw today for YJ were same as always. A single U-14 joined the team and was on the circle, not taking the draw. Check your invite, U-14 National championship not a 2021 tournament. Lose with some dignity...

You Liberty people are ridiculous . First off it was a U14 tournament , it's the reason it's unique as it eliminates the holdbacks . Second your Liberty club had brought age eligible players from the older grade for years and no one ever complained. Third , YJ had 1 2020 who did not take the draw .If you are going to post at least have a clue .

Hey moron it was a U14 tournament . Liberty has done the same in the past it's just that their 2020 team is atrocious .I guess you want your daughter playing on a B level club where she belongs , good for you.

You obviously have no idea what you are talking about, liberty won the draw battle in this game by a large margin but it didn't matter, they were way over matched on the field.

CR knew her draw girl(s), are some of the weakest in the age group, and replaced them with 2020's. Smart from a coaching standpoint. But that team doesn't win by that margin with their usual draw girl. They win less that 20% of the draws with their current draw girl.

You obviously have no idea what you are talking about, liberty won the draw battle in this game by a large margin but it didn't matter, they were way over matched on the field.

The finals should have been YJ vs TG. Liberty was in the easier bracket.

TG was up 4-3 at half and once YJ got a lead they went into a 15 min stall. Close game... boring to watch.

“It never gets old,” Rose said. “This year’s group I’ll remember for their unselfishness. They always look to pass before scoring.”

12 goals, 5 assists

It is crazy that LI teams keep traveling to this tournament to play each other, when they can play on Long Island. Unfortunately the team directors can't play well in the sand box, and won't put the girls first, instead of their egos.
I challenge YJ, LIberty, TGuns, Elevate, Igloo, 91, etc, etc, etc to set up a REAL Long Island tournament (perhaps maybe 2 or 3 of them). No need to worry about Maryland. Unless they want to prove their metal, and venture further North than exit 7 on the Jersey Turnpike. If that's the case, by all means come.

The Nationals tournament is a great experience for all the teams. It is lopsided in terms of competition sometimes, but the fight, and dedication in every team is real. Don't take that away from the girls. They try their best every game.

As far as U-14 teams using Age appropriate 2020's on their roster..... as long as they complied with the age verification, when they were registered with US Lacrosse, than they were perfectly clear to play. Personally I don't know why Liberty didn't do that. It's been done that way for a few years now. It's no secret to anybody. I'm sure other U-14 teams besides YJ and TGuns used that option for their rosters. It was done in all the age groups this tournament.

Enjoy the Summer everybody. Get ready for Fall Ball......

What is going on with Bert's team (YJ Gold), what an embarrassing summer. Changes coming?

It was close because TG had at least 6 of their best 2020s playing.
TG does have a strong 2020 group and those girls are not leaving.

There are no 2021 TG players YJ would be interested in. YJ needs one more stud Mid to put on the circle to work with the draw girl. The YJ 2020 player was the difference and highlighted what CR needs to address. She will find her and move another middy to D. Problem solved.

Hmmm....sorry...Think you have that backwards. There are no players on yellow jackets 2021 that TG are interested in.......YJ way overrated. Have a great rest of summer.

Ask the goalie's mom. She seemed to have all the answers screaming on the sideline how the D sucks!
