Which one left?

Can anyone give advice for upcoming tryouts. Looking to do a few this year for my son. Any tips from someone who has done it before?

Express has great coaching at this level. Ignore all the negative comments that follow.

Most will still be looking for middies, d and goalies after tryouts are done. Some will be looking for anybody to round out a roster. Send emails find out who the coaches are. Let more teams out there then are mentioned in here

Do what's best for you and your son. Find a team that practices within a reasonable proximity to your home, possibly with someone he knows (carpooling in a pinch). Look for stability. Is there a lot of turnover in players and coaches? If so, it's not a good sign. See what tournaments the teams generally play in. You may or may not want to travel as much or as little as some do. Also, be realistic about your sons abilties. Will he make a top team? Is he more of a middle of the road player (like most are)? You want to see him play, right? So find a team that will keep him on the field, not the bench.

There are a ton of teams out there. The ones you read about on here are just a fraction of them. As far as which teams are best, this is my opinion: Golden Geese and Express are the top teams. Igloo, Blast and Ducks are right below them. Then there are Empire, True Blue, 24, Recon, E3, Hitmen, etc... that are all good options, depending on where you live.

Except those kids will then want to play for the actual A team in an organization, so, unless they rise above an Express A Team player and displace them down, then they will leave to go to another club. . . . or Express will just carry an even larger A team roster than some of the ridiculous sizes they already have!

Wrong!!! Every team.has kids that leave and leave the program. O'Reilly does an amazing job with the kids. And he had a few get pulled up to Channy mid season and two left for an FLJEE B TEAM and they still had a great season. If you are new to club or your kid isn't ready for an A team tryout for Express.

Pulled up to Channy? That is incorrect. Those dads begged for their son to be on the A team. And their kids missed all the summer tournaments b/c they started summer camp.

In any case, Orielly is a great team for your son if he is not ready for an A team or likes to play soccer, baseball, hockey, basketball, etc. They practice all fall, train all winter, go once a week in early spring, and twice a week in late spring early summer.

Wow surprised. I would thought it would be higher.

They only play the best kids and all of those parents think their kid is the best. So they [lacrosse] and complain until the coach leaves or gets asked to leave. Nightmare team.

That's not even remotely true. Coach Rooney left to go to S2S that is forming a bunch of teams from 2024-2028. It was an opportunity to get in on a new club on the ground floor. Strictly business.

He invited the whole team to come with him creating a big [lacrosse] storm at 9d1. But you can stick to your fake news if you want.

He didn't invite everyone. He invited a select bunch. The rest were praying that he would go and take his "daddy ball" coaching with him. This team has be falling apart since the winter. Everyone has been complaining about practice time, incompetent coaches, playing time, etc... the list goes on and on. You're all miserable and can't keep your mouths shut about it. You can try to spin this any way you want, but that's why you go through coaches like a fat guy goes through doughnuts. Look at the history! In the 3 years since this team has started, you've been though 8 coaches and assistants! That's completely absurd! That doesn't happen on good teams. What's the common denominator? The parents!!!

As long as they don't take the WI Daddy coach back they will be fine.

So hes being forced to go to a startup? [lacrosse]. Rooney is involved with S2S on director/owner level. It is his choice.

Rumor has it they have a college kid coming in to take over. Good luck with that!

I heard Mixed nuts coach wants to be the new 9d1 coach. He's hoping this win will prove to JS he has what it takes.

For some of you that do not have a child on the 9D1 team you obviously think about this team day and night. Why are you people so INFATUATED? Do you come and watch their games and hide in the woods at their practices?
Come on really. At some point were you scorned or one of your children were not chosen to play for 9D1? PLEASE dig deep and open up and tell us your real story and where your children play now. Everyone is dying to know or are you ashamed to say..... We will wait patiently for your answers and continue to laugh at you.

It's a lesson for everyone. Blast is the Blockbuster Video of your th lacrosse. At one point they were the greatest thing ever; everyone's favorite. Then, seemingly overnight, the bottom dropped out. I don't know if it was the parents (who have NEVER appeared magnanimous or benevolent) or the coaching (who stood no chance of making everyone happy) or even the organization in general (which traditionally puts all resources only into successful teams), but that team has turned into a Greek tragedy!

Another dad that thinks his kid is better than he is. That would be daddyball at its finest! Although, that gig has become so undesirable that it might be their only choice.
