NXT goes 5-0 beating Juiced Cherries, VLC, Amped, Blackwolf and someone else. Isn't blackwolf and vlc top tier programs.

Question: If your kid could only play for a top club OR a top high school program which would you choose?

Reading all these posts it seems most on here believe summer club lacrosse is way more important than high school lacrosse.

Only has two 2020 and 2023 the third is the lizards who actually won. Just checked on tourney machine his 23's lost in finals so if two one goal losses in finals is a bad weekend I would like one of those for my son. Lololol good luck everyone at crabfeast looking forward to it

The Turtles weren't afraid to play the best at Crabfeast. Hate the Crabs, but that tournament is the best collection of top teams every summer. Maybe the Crush team is disbanding after all.

You should start a High School birth-year-buddies lax club. Really, sounds awesome, and I think the relevance will overwhelm the College recruiters. It will be revolutionary. Who knows, it could be so big that Varsity HS teams may even re-shape how they do business. We could have Varsity teams for each birth year, so great, and we can have helicopter parents for 18 years, instead of 14 years (or 19 for those pesky holdback people). Why stop at sports, I mean the military can do treaties to pair up enemy combatants by birth year, so you only get shot at by real live actual birth-year-buddies from other lands. But wait, we are running a special - will your child-adult be competing for an accounting, marketing, or sales job against someone older, not any more, our birth-year-buddies job placement program sounds perfect for your little-big guy. Why stop at actual birth year, because 11 months is a huge spread, really unfair, we can set up birth-minute-buddies colonies at birth, with huge domes like in the Simpsons movie.

Funny how the dads of avg club players on avg club teams are still whining about holdbacks when most of the kids on the clubs mentioned above played varsity as freshman (against much older players) and are committed to top schools..

While I agree on one hand that arguing about holdbacks for HS grade teams is somewhat overdone, on the other hand, why even bother having the 2020, 2019, and 2018 divisions then? If it truly doesn't matter, there is no reason to break them up - there should just be a bunch of "HS" divisions by ability, maybe an A, B, and C class to allow for similar scheduling/logistics. Grade/age would be a non-issue - you put a team together of 15 - 18 YOs, and enter them into the appropriate level they can play at. If you argue against complaining about holdbacks but you want grade-based HS divisions, you are talking out both sides of your mouth - you can't have it both ways.

We do have it both ways, dingus. Summer is set up by grade for scouting ease. HS is HS, because it is HS, and your HS is putting a team together for the sole purpose of playing other HS's in the HS divisions, in which the other HS's participate.

For Crabs look no further than WSYL in 2015. Beat Crush by 1 at the beach with their holdbacks, lost by a lot without them.

With the new recruiting rules, it doesn't make sense any more to have the class-based team divisions - talent can be evaluated based upon the play seen and the details on grade for any player is readily available to the coaches as provided by the tourney to the college coaches.

That's silly. The process does not change, it only gets pushed back a year or two.

It should be aged based from K to 8th grade. After that it, your in HS and it doesn't matter anymore.

Oy vey. Firstly, I said scouting, which I believe you think is the same as recruiting (you probably should have done an extra year, or "held back" for educational purposes, if that is the case). Please explain how any coach would scout universal mixed HS teams with any relevance during Summer ball? Tell me how a coach looking to finish his 2020 board would remotely be able to scout in this manner, assuming he lives on the 24 hour per day clock like the rest of us humans? So instead of watching games over a weekend, for example, at NLF or Crabfeast, where many of the best within one class are playing - you would like for the coach to spend all Summer tracking down teams with 1,2,3 of these kids at a time playing on a mixed HS team, and after watching about 75 games, still not have us much 2020 data as you did during one playoff in one weekend at the aforementioned events? Same question for a coach looking to start a 2021 board, how would that work? It wouldn't. There is a reason it is set up as it is, which is scouting, followed by recruiting.

Turtles are the best team ever. Crush nowhere close to the star power and certainly not the depth of that powerhouse team. Everyone got recruited on that team. Won't be the case for Crush.

This is a typical response from a FCA parent/fan. Lets take credit for everything and anything and give no credit to the ones that deserve credit. In case you don't know, Looney's and Crabs were also in a tight close game, the same type of game that FCA/Crust had. Sure, it is hot and difficult to play multiple games on the same day, especially against top teams but lets not grab for things that you don't deserve. These three teams can beat each other on any given day, depends on how the team is meshing, working together. Any team can be a little off center on any given day, happens in every sport and every level, but to make the statement you made that FCA/Crush were so exhausted from their game that it was a cakewalk for Looney's to win. FCA and Crabs has the largest number of holdbacks than any other top 5 2020 team. Crabs was at one point the leader in this field but Bryan at FCA quickly changed that. He is one person not to be trusted, have seen him lie to people in their face and then deny he ever said that. I know that man very well and he is far from my favorite human being. Pleasant to you face, but do not turn your back. I learned this when my son played for Crabs and then went to FCA. The sad part is he is still playing for FCA but far from happy/Won't go back to Crabs and Looney's not interested.
But there is still one thing Crabs still holds the title to, the oldest holdback on any 2020 team. Plays for Gilman, a 17 (now) year old rising sophomore. Right Billy?

My son is on a top team and played varsity, and I am (as is he) still sick of hold backs who need to be older just to compete. Worse still are parents of hold backs who think their son will actually play in college, who think being recruited is the end. It is just a beginning. Without the age benefit, your average hold back will not see the field.

17 years old in the 9th grade. SMH. All those kids made varsity because they are not really freshman. Are you that dense? If my kids played two years down they would be unstoppable.

The end game is recruiting, not playing time. Playing time is great, but if your son gets into a great school because of lacrosse and never plays a minute that's fine. Remember pro lacrosse pays enough to gas up the car.

Despite the uncanny ability of holdback complainers to hold on so tightly to a position, would any single one of their players get better at lacrosse if they went by birth-year-buddies system tomorrow? In spite of their own argument, a couple hold backs forced up would actually get better, their own kids' bracket would get diluted, and their own development would systematically slow down. Once diluted, younger better kids would move up from below, and they would quickly realize the really good kids one year behind are really freakin good too! What then? No playing up? Birth-year-buddies for life!

x2. If you held your child back (19,20) and they are not already committed, the game is up. My son played MIAA varsity as an on age freshman this season. Things were awkward with the uncommitted holdbacks then, and they are getting even more awkward as the summer progresses. He is on the field as a 14 year old playing with 16 year olds. The 16 year olds stand out a bit, but they won't in 18 months when it matters. That $30k you dropped would have covered a semester at the London School of Economics.

Once again you argue from the (weak) position that by playing down you are somehow doing the rest of us a favor and helping us get better. Ok then, following your logic, by playing down, against easier competition, aren't your kids then getting..worse? This dilution talk is just a red herring. It's not about any one single player getting better, it's about all players being compared to their actual peers, unless being compared to smaller, slower, weaker kids is the only way your kid can stand out.
