Whatever that National Championship tournament is looks like it has most of the best teams in the country. That is a tournament I would go just to watch.

Looks strong to me.

Yes, still strong, but the best teams shown already played in HoCo this spring. Also, it's very hard to say you have an elite tournament without the best of Long Island and Maryland present.

This tournament is an original Elite Tourney before there was a million to choose from. WSYL same weekend.
This line up is pretty good and should be a good one. Except for maybe the new MM tourney this year, there has never been a top to bottom Elite tourney. Young Guns was the closet thing to it.

Tells you quite a bit about how weak the wsyl is when the 6th best team in D.C., md, and va is the 3rd best in a world wide tourney.

Why is the WSYL so weak because they have rules and your holdbacks can't play . The top teams in md wouldn't be any good if you take away your holdbacks. Hawks,Bethesda, Roughriders, FCA,CRABS,Team91,.The sad thing is you had to get holdbacks to compete when Diamondbacks was killing everyone. Since Diamondbacks don't have holdbacks you beat them now. You should be so proud that older kids are beating younger kids. If lacrosse went to age base your team wouldn't be so good and your boy would have to play at his age and he wouldn't be so good.

Sad commentary. so if we go back to an age base system there will still be kids a year older and a year younger! Why is this so hard for you to understand. Youth sports has always been this way. You are crying because your son plays against a kid 1 year older? Sad. good luck in High school

One year older is ok but some these kids are 2 to 3 years older. In high school that is fine because he will have hit puberty and will be just as strong but when you have a 12 who hasn't hit puberty against a 14 year who has hit puberty big difference . That 14 is more aggressive, stronger, faster and a lot bigger.

your an idiot...if you think hold backs don't have an advantage your out of your mind. why does everyone complain about them. Youth sports were never that way. If your were good you played up never down. Screw prefirst and all holdbacks just cheating plain and simple Lax is the only sport that allows it...NOT in football baseball basketball soccer just in cheating lacrosse. If your kid is that good play UP.

The sad commentary is from YOU! Prefirsts/holdbacks/reclassed as it relates to YOUTH lacrosse in a grade based environment is to gain an advantage over others. Very simple concept except to apologists like you.

It does work for many players which makes it so popular. And especially the MIAA private school kids. The prefists were at a disadvantage when they had to play at age a few years ago. Now they have an advantage of being the oldest every single year they play youth.

My kid is a hold back, and I feel that if I want him to be the best person in the world I must hold him back for 3-4 years so he can not only kill in sports but also kill in grades.

The absurdity of this argument is that any club polices holdbacks. Point me to the page on API's website where they discourage or preclude holdbacks from trying out for their teams. Oh yeah, you said there is at least one. Why doesn't that kid play up? Maybe you lose that one goal game without him? The more likely scenario is that there just aren't a lot of kids trying out for API these days, and at the same time, the team slowly bleeds players who are tired of that team for one reason or another. Get real. API would take the best 2022 players that showed up to their tryouts regardless of whether they are a July '03 birthday or Oct. '03 birthday. Besides geography, I'm not sure what will bring kids back to tryouts this year.

A few kids born in summer does not make these teams full of holdbacks 1-2 years older. That's a weak argument. Plus the coaches just pick from the best at tryouts and the best kids will go to the best coaches. Don't say you chose to have no holdbacks (or leave them behind for Denver). It's just the best kids chose not to tryout for your team. If the rules changed the same teams would be good, it might just mean 3 or 4 kids might change.

No, doing pre-first or repeating a grade in school, is not cheating at anything. That is a false, negative statement, and is useless rhetoric. The differing curriculums expose a contentious debate, but no, nothing you state represents cheating or anything of a nefarious nature. Playing up until the HS years is the best way to improve for any kid that is able, so that should be encouraged at the youth level in grade-based systems. That is a positive statement that makes sense. If we had more positive parents, coaches, and club directors, and less idiots like yourself, than we would probably see more kids playing up for the right reasons, and less kids playing down for the wrong reasons. But we don't have that, and instead, we have mostly folks that can find something to complain about at the drop of a dime, and take every opportunity to do so. As a result, like the boy who cried wolf, nobody is interested anymore and just keeps plugging along until the checks stop coming or clearing. So take a number in line, and actually, screw you.

I guarantee that 3 if not 4 teams from LI will be in the semi-finals and 2 will be in the finals just like last year. There schools have a 12/1/03 or 1/1/04 start date and they don't have pre-first or allow reclassing/holding back. That is why they will always win age based tournaments regardless of the birthdate they use.

The teams that go to the Million Tournament will be the same teams you will be watching from you couch on 7/4.

I thought the LI teams brought down kids from the older team for WSYL. In years past, that has been the case.

Every AA team. That equates to anyone that did prefirst or has ever repeated one grade.

I have a 2019 and he was a FEB. baby. He started Va schools at 5 like normal. His time playing grade based teams at the AA level he played with several teammates 18 months older then him. You can decide to be mad or sad about this but the older ones where ahead of him all the way tell about now his Soph. year.

It funny because if you read back to page like 70 something I made a point about the same thing with 1 year is fine but teams with kids that are 2 to 3 years older is a problem. Someone jumpedl on it the post and said no kids or that much older and blah blah blah. It is the truth.
The other thing that has been pointed out is that Hawks and 91 have players from out of state playing on there teams. That is some crazy [lacrosse]. We do not have enough good players in the DMV area that they need to pull kids from out of the region. My son is lucky enough to play on one of the best coached teams in the region. We do not have the best players but with the best coach he makes our players better ad we compete against all of these All Star style teams because of that.

The DBacks have about 5 players that are still 12 . My will son will be 13 august . The private-school has advantage over public school because they dont do pre k and then reclass . So some teams have 14 year olds and maybe a young 15 year depending on Birthday .But that is up to their parents to do what's best for their kid. The private school is just taking advantage of the situation and so are the club team. The sad thing is the holdback can't make a elite team at his age so he has to play down to make a team . API coach doesn't allow holdbacks maybe he will next year . It's hard to compete because API is so small against these teams . It is what it is.

That is very noble stand by the coach to not allow hold backs. It will be very interesting to see if his policy changes next year as the Diamondbacks have historically flopped as HS years approached. The good kids would either go Crabs or Hawks and I would bet that history holds serve on this one. The only problem being is that these kids have not gotten better over the last few years. The skill development, regardless of their age, has been pretty shameful under this staff. Doubt even the better kids could make Crabs or Hawks.

Aren't some of these coaches on the JV staff at Spalding? Aren't Diamondbacks a feeder club for Spalding if the kids don't stay public at Severna Park? Lacking development of this team, staff also at Spalding, Spalding has 0 wins in MIAA this year and only 1 win last year. 1 + 1 = .....
