Who are the frontrunners for top teams in this org? Are tryouts done for all or is there still room?

Reach out to the Rebels they have (3) 2031 teams. There top team is going to be legit.

They are in 3rd grade. No top teams yet. You have years of this crazy in front of you. Pace yourself. For the sake of little Johnny who is “pretty good” let him play and enjoy the game for a few more years before you apply the you need to be on the top team pressure.

Legacy had 2 teams last year and I’m assuming will have 2 teams this year as well. We were happy. Lots of practices, good coaches. They did play days and a few tourneys

Express, S2S and 91 all have 2031 teams as well.

91 has put a ton of effort into girls program past year and a half. Very happy with program, winter training academy and coaching. Very strong ‘29/‘30 groups as well

This really surprises me with 91. They are usually off ground running. Express gets all the private school players as they enter middle school so not to surprised there.

The Igloo A team by far the best 31 team on the Island. Beat everyone this fall and tied some very good 2030 teams. Rebels have 2 or 3 players that run down hill but no ball movement.

Are your 2031s 8 years old? Mine is. "No ball movement" -- You clearly don't have older kids and haven't been through this before. LOL. You will look back and realize how silly you sound now.

Sadly they won’t. They will be the dads beating their chests and chasing t-shirts for years to come. Tools on the sidelines. How good your kid at 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 won’t matter. The 8 year old studs who are bigger and faster eventually even out. Many will get passed by. At 8 focus on your kid having fun and getting better independently. Nobody will remember who the best team was when they were 8.

Nice to see rebels playing up and winning! That’s how you do it if you want to get better.

Yes Rebels practice, really skill training 4 days minimum a week. That’s just winter, and it’s every team every age. Other clubs living in the past.

There is no need for a 3rd grade team to travel to Delaware for 3 lacrosse games. i have a senior and sophmore that play / have played on very competitive teams. Reps absolutely matter. Being the best 3rd grade team in the universe doesn't.

I think it's great that a long island team is going down to take on other states. If we want to be considered a geographically strong lacrosse area, teams need to put themselves out there. I hope they do well and I hope we play against each other in the spring.

It's 3rd grade.....save the travel for when it's necessary at older grades. I've been through this with my daughter. Talk to parents of girls who have to travel to MD, NJ and DE in the early years because that's where the tourneys are. By the time they are in HS everyone is burnt out from traveling the NJ turnpike. You will never see MD teams coming to LI at this age for the same reason. It's really not necessary in the boys landscape.

Lacrosse is NOT a Burn out sport.

Traveling the NJ tpke for 8yrs is where the burnout comes from. Save it for later years when its necessary, that's the point.

We are excited and the boys are happy. Please do a little self-reflection on why you need to rain on our parade. If we didn't want this level of commitment, we'd switch teams. I hope you're equally happy with the decisions your coaches are making (I'm not being sarcastic.)

The sad thing is that this likely IS a parent. It's those who never played themselves and reliving through their kids. Sad.

At this age it should be about fun but if kids and parents want more of a commitment, then that’s fine as well.
We have seen plenty examples of kids who dedicate large portions of their time to lacrosse at an early age and still love playing and have great success, ie. 91 Crush.
We have also seen kids and parents get burnt out from over exposure. The decision should be made by the parent and child, and is unique to each family.
Parents should be good role models for kids no matter what level they are playing on. Being “The best” in 3rd grade does not matter at all. Too many times the coaches and parents act like kids and embarrass themselves and the organizations they represent!

Rebels ain't falling apart they are here to make noise, their youth teams will be very very good, their younger clinics are packed out, everyone loves what they are doing, and they should, this is just the start for this program if they keep putting the time and effort that they are. For the 2031 stealth team, these kids are having a blast, and they are getting better every-time they get on the field with this group of coaches.

Most of the pat med team are rebels i believe, on the rebels stealth or that rebels raiders team that is out of pat med.

Little birdie told me today, a very good 2030 team is imploding, and all coming to Rebels. Rebels also have 70-90 2033/32’s already. Do the math, 2030/31/32/33 Rebs will be top team. We played Pat Med Today and lost 14-1. All but 3 kids had Rebel helmets on. Talked to Pat med Mom, see said only 3-4 on top team. All other kids are on east end Rebels. Never seen 3 grade town team that good. Five , six passes in a row, on a dime. My son will be trying out for Rebels. Heard 5 teams in 31 next year. That’s so impressive.

Rebels are new top club. Everyone involved(which includes10 full time employees) are all super dedicated and the very best teachers of the game. The passion and commitment of all with Rebels is 2nd to none. Like Secretariat and 31 length win at Belmont, Rebels have exploded on club lax scene. I love the “rebels will play anyone” line but doesn’t hold water; our coach has reached out multiple time, offering to play them here in Philly or closer to them…crickets.

As far as rankings right now it is Igloo / Rebels as 1a and 1b. Then Legacy / 2S2 AS A distant 3/4 ... then everyone else pretty far behind that

by 5th/6th grade express will have a top team of kids looking to be noticed for a catholic HS
91 will slowly poach the best kids, some right from the rebels

and Legacy will grow and develop talent as well.

that's a lie. top talent kids do not leave their team to play for a worse team. simple concept.

what does happen is A teams have kids who don't see the field that often, they jump to the rebels because they have less talent, and that kid will get more time.
see, that's why your a B team, you get lower tier players from better teams looking for more playing time. understand the concept.

then what happens is the 1 or 2 good kids on the rebels realize they are on a B team and wanna move up to play in real tournaments on real A teams and you lose them.

Lacrosse is a great sport, but believe it or not, this is all about creating good habits and character development and not lacrosse.

You do a disservice to Rebels when you come on here and talk about how great your organization is. Just let the results speak for themselves and leave it alone. No need to do a celebration in the end zone and gloat every time you score.

The kids that got cut from the B team in my son’s organization went to the Rebels A team (not this age group). No top kids at any age are defecting from the normal top clubs to go to Rebels.

I have an older guy who plays for the rebels. My 31 plays for a different club. I am by no means sayid the rebels are the new hot club……. Blah blah blah. Based on my interactions with them for my older son I highly doubt the directors are coming on here and spewing this nonsense.

What people forget about Rebels is they are only in year 3 or 4 and are already better at some ages than the big few, they are mentioned with the big 5 or 6 on Long Island and trending upward, younger teams are great, older teams are OK but still have lots of da commitments.

Pick your team on what’s best for your son or daughter and their situation, not parents who, back of the cage feedback or anything else!

Rebels are solid, but top heavy team. Igloo kids are way more athletic and Legacy has more depth.

Express has all competitive teams 2028 and up, multiple world series championships and possibly this years 2027 group also. 91 same thing, same world series championship teams. Ownership for both on top recruiting NLF tournament board and strong connection w D1 schools!! Igloos TA and Legacys TZ same with D1 connections. S2S has very strong teams 2026,2027,2028 and 2030 teams. Rebels blown out in 2027 qualifiers! Outscored 30-2 in first round. They are pinning their hopes and future on a 2031 team. (8 year olds hahahha!!) Btw, that cant beat Igloo....

Rebels "leadership" doesn't spend time here. But you people are crazy on here. No 8 year old team is dictating the future of a club. However, the guys do have 50+ Commits in their first 3 classes D1, D2, and D3. They have build from 7 teams to 19 in 3 years. They are expanding to Maryland and eastern long island next year. They may not be the best now, they many not be the best ever, but they are absolutely here to stay. Enough fighting and bantering about 8 year olds, what tournaments is everyone playing in this spring/summer?

Great game today. Igloo beat Rebels in another one goal game. Both teams are great, coached well, and a pleasure to watch. Igloo is #1 and deserves that. Rebels are #2. No one else is close. Going to be fun watching these clubs play over the years. Think they go at it in a few weeks at Blatant. Believe all AA teams are there.

Im sure the parents are patiently waiting while paying 4 Grand..... They are the Top program on the Island but not playing at the younger ages against better teams is just weakness and insecurity. It is also at the same time a smart business move bc they dont want to get blown out and have parents question with they are paying for.. It was pretty bad getting their doors blown off by a Town team in the fall.

To be clear Im joking about the coaching because of all the ridiculous posts before. Both teams are great. Both sets of coaches are great. Will continue to go back and forth, and most importantly make each other better. Remember when it really comes down to it your son will be competing against thousands of players nationwide for college roster spots. So Rebels / Igloo having a healthy rivalry, where its always close is BEST FOR THE KIDS!

Someone just forwarded me this thread and I’m embarrassed for everyone writing on it. It’s sad actually. The fact that you don’t realize this is emblematic of all that’s wrong with youth sports. Rebels def played really really well and igloo didn’t have a great game. It happens in sports. Two really good teams that I’m sure will continue to play and beat each other.

I watched the final game. Rebels we’re very impressive with unselfish play and ball movement. Igloo will not last long if that one coach continues to act like a donkey and scream at the kids all day long. They always seem to have the biggest a hole coaches on their top teams

I am a parent and was at the game. Disgusting behavior by the Rebels head coach. He called a 3rd grader a “scrub” and yelled “see you later”. When his player ran by the player. Pathetic that a grown man would act in this manner. It’s really too bad as the team is clearly the best in the age group and this disgrace will ruin it for all those boys.

As a Rebels parent on that sideline, we agreed that the language in that one situation was too harsh. Our coach is a good man who cares very much about our guys but he got carried away. Please know that we respect your coaches, players, and parents and we look forward to more games this season.

What programs have B teams at this age?

The other grades are just as bad. It starts to die down a little when they are 14. Buckle up and good luck!!

Long Island lacrosse is crazy at every age, but it’s usually only a few parents on a few teams that cause most of the “drama” find a good team with good coaches and ignore the drama. Simple as that.

Not trying to rebels out this post, but the rebels two B teams are both very good. Rebels Raiders are best "B" team around have beaten all the other B teams, and a few of clubs top teams, they are more east ended. Rebels Riot are central and very good as well in terms of skill. Great set of coaches on both those rosters.

Legacy has a solid B team, Mooselax only has one team but solid B team.

For Central location would look at Rebels Riot, and Mooselax. For East end would look at Rebels Raiders and Legacy B.

91 has a very good B team with the best coaches at that level. Not sure if Legacies B team is strictly 31 or combined with 32s. Igloo has a B team that is pretty bad. Rebels B teams are okay but coaching is weak, like most B teams. I’d go with 91 first because of there coaches but if Legacy is strictly 31, I give them a look as well.

Does 91 have a B team or is that just their first team? I know there first team was losing to town teams in the fall so not sure how a 2nd team would be.

91 does have both A and B plus they don’t put their A players on B teams for the sake of a good tournament showing.

Experienced coaching and player development are the key. Not Pat yourself on the back third grade wins.

Good luck in DE this weekend. Rebels are playing in a 2030/31 division at Lehigh Laxfest. It's nice that everyone is travelling for good competition this weekend. We did well against those teams in Delaware in March. Hope you get a similar result.

91 Coaches not going to play top clubs yet because they will get washed. Good strategy for sure, they already lost to town teams, so now they are picking on the little fish and B division squads. If they played Igloo/Rebels/Legacy they would lose and more then likely lose a few of their players. They do have a lot of talent but as a team not there yet. Don’t underestimate 91 though, it still is top program in country. Of course at certain age groups weaker then other but overall still best around!

Why did the Rebels have such a tough time with nobody programs in Lehigh? Igloo beat BLC in championship and lost to Madlax in pool.

Rebels played up a grade. They also beat Madlax 9-3. Very interesting that iglioo and Rebels were playing first game next week. All of a sudden not on schedule. If you make it to finals rebels will be waiting for you. Like the 7-1 lopsided game a few weeks ago, they will go down again.

Tournament play this year Rebels. 13-0 wins again, with wins against madlax, hawks,crabs, express east, iglioo(x2, sweetlax, Fla stealth, and legacy. Then 3 2030 teams. Now again explain what you logic is. Only one close game against Iglioo 5-3. Every other 31 game a blow out.

Madlax has beaten Igloo both times in 1 goal games, not sure how you have Igloo above them. Bethesda probably has the series lead over Madlax, I would go:

Rebels are a little overrated. You can only train robotic execution to a talent upper limit. The better athletes from the other programs erases that maniacal 5 practice/week advantage. It’s already showing in the tournaments. Low end talent has limits.

They go 3 days a week. Have great coaching (as you mention) and are getting better each week. Definitely the team to beat right now. Take down Laxachusetts and Igloo this week.

Rebels are now 18-0 in tournament play. Think they should be ranked, well, maybe, that’s right #1. Credit to Iglioo at #2(nothing wrong with that) no team is really close to them.

Interesting analysis, every game I’ve seen I thought the complete opposite. Igloo is a team that has been together for 3 years and extremely well coached and the Rebels, who are a first year team are WAY more athletic. Guess the results speak for themselves .

Igloo dad- you can’t rank Igloo above Rebels when the Rebels have won the last three match ups. They’re both phenomenal teams but right now it’s Rebels #1 and Igloo #2. They could absolutely keep flip flopping over the next decade but your ranking is completely subjective instead of objective. It was a great weekend of lacrosse.

Rebels and Iglioo coaches get along and respect each other. Kids have friends on opposite team. No fights on parents sides. Just a lot of fun and amazing talent for this age on both. Enjoy it and maybe chill on the rankings for a bit.

Rebels played those HoCo teams this summer? I think only Igloo and S2S have played HoCo teams this summer. Crabs are bottom half of HoCo. Rebels played up in Lehigh sure but they played headstrong fcol. That they seem to have Igloo's number which means they're definitely a top team but not so sure they'd be anything better than 50/50 against Madlax.

Rebels went to the Spring Thaw earlier this season and beat MadLax 11-6, Hawks 8-3, and Crabs 7-1. They were all solid teams and it’ll be great to play again. Why do people have a hard time giving the Rebels credit? Our boys work really hard and we respect that your kids do too.

Spring thaw hoco teams are not season/summer hoco teams. Nobody has problems giving Rebels credit and it certainly seems like they're a top team. If they have Igloo's number and Igloo was competitive with top hoco teams this summer (they beat BLC and lost to madlax), then they're right there. But in all the Rebel posts about "rankings" (in 3rd grade no less), it's probably Igloo+Rebels+top 1/2 of hoco in first tier, bottom of hoco + best of rest LI + laxachusetts + jersey express + nxt, etc.

Also, you don't need to start artificially lowering the age of the Rebels artificially to compensate; 0% chance rebels have any 7 yo on team let alone active player 7yos. 31s should be 9. Many hoco teams feed from private schools with "pre-1st" (lol) so there are indeed a # of 10 year olds on clubs like madlax, blc, and hawks. But LI lax also has it's reclass nuances so let's not act like Rebels or Igloo are 9yo purists either.

So somehow the missing players from both teams in spring makes it a wash? All we know is:
* Rebels have Igloo's number
* Igloo have played with top HoCo teams this summer (once) and played competitively, winning playoffs but losing in pool
* This summer Rebels have played nobody of note except Igloo this past weekend
* (rebels spring thaw roster is 95% now roster)

I think it's probably Rebels, Igloo, top 4 from HoCo as the top tier/elite teams, and then there's a big of a bulge bracket in the next tier.

Rebels have played and beat igloo 3 times since May. Best laxxachusetts, S2S and anyone else on their schedule. Plus best all 3 in HOCO. Not saying they will stay the #1 but hard to put anyone else above them now.

Do you have information that disproves that the spring 2022 rebels roster was materially different from summer 2022 rebels roster? I have information on the spring rosters of the HoCo teams at spring thaw and they were about 60% strength. E.g. ML DMV kids playing for ML Capitol (they did not remain on Capitol roster for HoCo season)

Rebels should have ability to make Stealth even more of a super team, and build their riot team into a legit team as well. Expect them to have 2 of the top teams at this age.

I would say stealth has 6-8 spots available. Team had a few 2 nd graders and few went to riot. Core 15/16 all coming back. Simple Math. , spots are available, and if your son is a top player on his current team, he should be at tryouts. That’s only if you want to be in #1 team in The USA .

Be careful what you wish for. They are a good team a very good team. If all the other top players come over. That means some of or a lot of the current roster will be pushed down or pushed aside. I’ve been around club lacrosse for years before I had kids I coached. Very few organizations can manage 2 good teams. The parents on the second team alway feel left out or feel like they are playing second fiddle to the top team. Creates too much drama and eventually it falls apart

People also want to play for clubs where that have a chance to play in WSYL in a few years. Everyone knows. The non stop self promoting becomes counterproductive.

When going through upcoming tryouts, roster size should be your #1 question, on any given team.

18 is perfect and anything beyond 20 is a money grab. Reasonable game playing time beyond 18 is near impossible. If a club far exceeds 20, run!!!!!!

I will NOT commit to a team that will carry anymore than 22 players. To no fault of the kids and parents and sometimes coaches, these teams will be plagued with an extremely toxic environment.

Ideal team size for games 18:
4 Defense
6 Middies
4 Attack
1 LSM
1 FOGO
2 Goalies

Ideal team size for practices 20:
5 Defense
6 Middies
1 LSM
1 FOGO
5 Attack

Directors should be upfront on roster size. If they don’t offer this, you should ask the question before you commit. RUN if roster spots exceed 22 or you don’t get a clear answer. Advocate for your son by asking the question and keeping the clubs accountable.

18 is to small, you have no idea what your talking about.

4 defense? 1 takes a penalty. you don't rely on your LSM in that situation as the 4th pole on man down.
you play 4 defense and 1 shorty. you need 5 def minimum.

Not the guy that posted the above statement but 18 was the norm not too long ago. Then club teams moved to 20 that was the standard until Express 2022 team started adding players. Cant blame them, back then it was $2,700 per year 2-4 extra players per team ( 9 grades) per year. That's a lot money almost 2 full teams of extra players with the combined grade years. They still got their top kids recruited while they took all the extra money. Their thinking at the time was "well we told the parents it would beneficial to have their kid on the second team but they wanted their kid on the A team (back then it was A teem and B team no AA ) Then more parents started asking to have their kids on the A team next thing the roster was at 30 Then they started calling the A team AA and the B team A then the C team was now a B team Parents lined up to get their kids on these teams. I was coaching another team at the time, we lost a few kids to them. eventually other clubs saw how much they were making and joined in. Now its out of control. Cant blame the clubs they are in business to make a profit It's the crazy parents that caused club lacrosse to spiral out of control.

Once they learn of the coaches reputation and learn why he got dumped from another club they will RUN to 91. Guy needs to learn how to treat kids...some example he sets. I'm sure the college coaches love dealing with him...

Agree with this. Once upon a time it was 18-20. But the new norm is 20-22. I would be very surprised if anyone carry’s 18 these days.

Not sure about that. The coaches of the 31 igloo team are truly special leaders. Other clubs should be so lucky. Enjoy last two weeks and tryouts.

I heard some of the higher ceiling Rebels Stealth kids are going to Igloo. Tryout season shaking thing up for 2023.

Rebels are too high. Not losing in last 40 games, yes they should be ranked #7. 91 has not won a game but think they are the top team. Just because the directors have small brains and feel Its automatic. Guess what your run has come to a screeching halt. 91 express Eskimo’s will fight for 2-4. Legacy is done, turtles are done , s2s is well really done. Rebels Rule LI and Nation. Should have got on the train, now it’s rolling all over. I s amazing what’s happening. Owners of 2-4 should sell know, your on the way OUT. Will be worthless after tryouts.

Who tf is Eclipse? They’re not beating HoCo teams.

eclipse is out of CT. in about 3-4 years their team will be fully reclassed and at least 1-2 years older than most LI teams and destroying the competition. Prep school kids.

Rebels we’re combo team ties/wed. Only 12 stealth kids at event. Will have full team at Lake george. Say want you want, jealousy is a horrible trait.

30 kids there tonight…..where are the other 20 coming from in order to make two teams? Just because kids attend a tryout doesn’t mean they will choose to play for that club either.

We’re 50 + night 1 and only had to go to 1 tryout. Was surprised how many kids for a new program

96.7 percent of kids getting offered Rebels are taking. Why would u turn down east program ran by 5 plus varsity coaches 3 coaches per team, training and practice 2 plus times a week all year . Full time staff of 18 plus. The future of li lacrosse has arrived.

It’s a great place to play if you want to pound your chest because you beat a ton of B teams at terrible tournaments. There’s a reason why the outlaws don’t exist anymore… you can put shiny red helmets on a B team… and it’s still a B team.
