No one “transfers” mid year. Tuition is already paid.

He’s not wrong. Every kid that “transferred” out of my sons school this past year was asked to leave for either behavior or academics.

If you can afford it, it will happen. Many who pay tuition can afford it.

True. But let's be honest, many of the fierce pro public schoolers REALLY don't like to pay tuition.

Difference makers? or upperclassmen that look to be losing playing time to underclassmen?

Either will be difference makers for their public school teams. Even the best PSs have no depth.

Better education? How about dad and kids thought they were all that instead they were the bench warmers. Public schools they will shine and then peak and lacrosse is done and over for daddy and son. BN parents don’t want these boys back same with Arundel parents.

Most kids who flame out at privates end up doing well at public. It's a good option for these kids.

Meh, not uncommon for this to be 2-3 kids per school, per year.

This happened at MSJ with the 2025s I recall, after few/no 2025 freshmen made varsity. You'd have to ask those 4-5 kids or their parents what the bottom line reasoning to jump to public school was, or what they thought they had been promised at MSJ, but they were recruited in a group, and left as a group.

Will McDonogh repeat as Champions of MIAA again ?? They have the best attack in nation that should carry them deep into the playoffs. Their Middies will need to only not lose the ball and play decent for McD to score at least 13-15 a game. I dont see anyone stopping the attack. D is suspect but should be good enough.

Is there another MIAA team that can compete offensively with them?

McD is definitely the team to beat.

But BL, CH and StM could contend on any given day.

McD attack is great and their D will actually be one of the better units (supplemented by transfers) in the MIAA. The only way that you can attack McD is to wear down a very thin midfield line.

Watch SP and LB. The Crusaders and Dons will be back in the top six teams and will upset several of your top four teams. No one is walking away with anything. SP was an overtime goal away from beating BL and MCD scored with less than one second left to beat the Lakers. Margins are razor thin in this Conference. Depth, staying healthy and coaching really matters. To the victor the spoils....

Honest question as this is very new and looks to be a big deal. With NIL recently approved in MD for HS can money be used to pay tuition? What schools are already out in front or this new ruling and how is this going to change both HS and college recruiting?

This is big for college recruiting. Making the 12.5 scholarship mandate by the ncaa null and void for the colleges with big time boosters. Money is limitless from the boosters and it isn’t counted against the coaches scholarship budget. It’s free money they give the athletes. This is a major game changer in college recruiting.

As a reply to the Mensa candidate: Chose football scholarship (100%) and a potentially lucrative nfl career over a partial college scholarship and if he made it to the PLL paltry compensation. MIAA has several former lacrosse stars in the NFL (Micah Kaiser) or starting big time D1 football Trader at MD and Shaw at USC.

The rivalry games seem very one-sided this year - any one expect these to be close?

BL vs StP
Gilman vs McDonogh
CH vs Loyola
MSJ vs Spalding
Severn vs St. Marys

SP is [Censored].

LB is moving in the same direction.

Both should move to B level.

I doubt he gets that much playing time. A few runs at most as a DSSM per game.

He’s not wrong. Every kid that “transferred” out of my sons school this past year was asked to leave for either behavior or academics.

From another MIAA dad: accurate. Last tuition payment is Feb 15. Down payment on tuition for next year due on April 15 (ish).

Forced transfers that I can think of in the last several months (to about last spring), at my son's school (generally transfering back to public schools, or one particularly "academically lenient" MIAA-C school):
1) 2nd offense, vaping on school grounds
2) 2nd offense, social media violation / bullying
3) 1st offense, threat of violence on school grounds
4) 1st offense, social media / online threat of violence
5) Academic - general failure to comply (refused to do homework, participate in class, etc)
6) Academic - honor code / plagiarism (multiple offenses)
7) Academic - facing expulsion with 3 Fs at the end of the school year (school rule requires expulsion)

And you can laugh it up, talking about "ha ha these are not elite student problems" and that's true, but my retort would be, how many months/years would each of these problems be allowed to continue at a public school?

Most privates don’t make it easy or cheap to pay tuition monthly. High service fees to push you to pay in a lump sum earlier.

Not true. Most families pay monthly and the previous poster who said last payment is in February is totally wrong.

Pretty sure neither one of you know what you are talking about because parents are not going around discussing their tuition payment plans. Private schools DO make it difficult to pay monthly by adding hefty service charge fees/processing fees to your tuition. Most schools also offer a 60/40 plan. Pay 60% summer prior to start of school with balance due by December before winter break. Not one school I looked into while going through the high school selection process 4 different times has payments due in February, the same month they hand out acceptance letters.

He will get on field. He's that athletic, can play lacrosse and most importantly loves the game. This is the type of athlete any coach is going to leave out there (assuming he's progressing rapidly) and let get back into playing shape and stickwork so he's ready for the tournament in May. He may not be Bubba offensively (he shot and fed well in high school) but has better foot speed and physicality.
