How do you know? Who says that any team wants to humiliate anyone else? Are you parents at practice to hear such nonsense. I doubt it? Would any of you also stop the bench players that never get in from scoring a goal when they finally get a chance?
If I were coach and if the score were as lopsided as Sage stated; the scoring would be done with. Simple as that. No need to humiliate an opponent.
I will posit that stopping the scoring is just as humiliating. Everyone knows what's going on and it becomes a long and boring game of keep-away. An idea I like better is for the winning team to play with their non-dominant hand, switch up the offense and defense so they get a feel for the other position, and clear the bench. Any combination of those things.
